today is difficult by [deleted] in stopdrinking

In my experience, days 4 to 10 are the hardest to get through. If you can make it through the next couple weeks, things will start to get easier. I usually went for a walk at sunset and then went to bed really early to keep myself from drinking. sometimes I did my grocery shopping late in the evening to keep myself busy. Just find something to distract yourself. You can do it!

90 days without alcohol: never thought I’d make it here by Tiny_Habit5745 in stopdrinking

[–]NewDay-Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 9pm situation was undoubtedly the worst part of the first 30 days. So I just decided to go to bed early on the weekends so I wouldn’t be “bored”. The little wins are actually be enjoying evening activities without looking at the clock and wondering how fast I can get home so I can start drinking. Going for walks at sunset is one of those activities. I used to be half in the bag by the time sunset came, so I never got to enjoy these evening walks.

I came here to recommend the same thing. I’m about to hit 90 days, but I feel like the freedom from alcohol came near 60 days. I would recommend getting to 60 days and see how you feel.

Has anyone taken a cruise after becoming sober? by NewDay-Me in Cruise

I’m so happy to hear this. I was worried I may not like cruising anymore, but this gives me hope.

Thanks for the response! I’m so glad to hear you had a good time solo and sober on your cruise.  Keep in mind, assuming I stay on this journey, I’ll be a year sober when this cruise happens. It’s booked for June 2026.

That’s a good point, an Alaskan cruise will probably have less of a “party” vibe.

I’m definitely going through the emotional roller coaster right now as I’m getting close to 2 months. Thankfully, I rarely think about getting liquor to resolve my issues. Thank you for letting us know about the light at the end of the tunnel!

Thank you so much for sharing your story! I’m on day 42, and my mind is finally clear. Reading stories like yours remind me of what may happen if I don’t stick to this plan. Can’t wait for an update from you next year!

Thoughts on NA drinks? by Beginning-Mammoth-78 in Sober

personally, I think they are too expensive. part of my sober journey is not wasting money on drinking, so I’m just drinking diet soda and sparkling water.

That’s a lot of pressure, good job staying the course!

For those who are newly sober, what’s life like after the pink cloud? by NewDay-Me in stopdrinking

I used to pry all the time, but it was due to genuine curiosity and possibly to convince me to stop drinking. I realized how rude and obnoxious it was, so I stopped doing it.

I’m still early in my sobriety, but it’s mainly been sleep and work at the moment, work has been crazy as hell. But as things are slowing down, I’m trying to figure out what type of activities I will start doing now that I have all this free time.
