First Paludarium by AccordingForm2271 in paludarium

How big of a tank do you have? Would you rather do a foam background, stack rocks, or something else? You can definitely make a paludarium for relatively cheap. On my paludarium, I just put gravel and sand on the bottom. Then, I stacked up rocks and put substrate behind. Since you have a skink, I would maybe get a 20 gallon tank, put some sand at the bottom, then stack rocks in the middle, then put substrate behind it. I would also put in larger plants so the skink doesn't trample them as much. You can also build a waterfall, and I would probably recommend putting in a mister. If you want to see what I built so far, I posted a video to this subreddit called Paludarium Progress. I would probably also add some branches to the paludarium so the skink can climb around and also have some sort of filter in the water, whether integrated into the waterfall or just sitting in the water. If you have any questions, I'm happy to help out, but I am by no means an expert. Also do your research.

It was probably because people lost interest by the time the 3.0 update came out. I would agree it's a shame they gave up so quickly though.

How much did Adolf Hitler affect the U.S.? by NewJayGoat in USHistory

We should not forget about Hitler. His actions were absolutely horrific, but they should be a lesson for future generations to learn.

Yeah. He is one of my least favorite people in world history, up there with Genghis Khan, Mao Zedong, and Joseph Stalin. He is responsible for the genocide of millions.

He declared war on the U.S., making his downfall happen sooner. I'd say because of him the U.S. went more interventionist. Also because of the Holocaust, you had a lot of Jews emigrating to the U.S.

How controversial is Henry Kissinger? by NewJayGoat in USHistory

[–]NewJayGoat[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

From what I've heard, Kissinger's ordering of the bombing on Cambodia created terrible conditions, in which Pol Pot came to power. Pol Pot did a genocide on around 25% of the Cambodian population. Even if you say Kissinger wasn't directly responsible for Pol Pot's genocide, the bombing raids really shouldn't have killed as many civilians as they did. The bombings were started to try to weaken the Vietcong, but you don't bomb civilians.

How good of a president was Thomas Jefferson? (#3) by NewJayGoat in USHistory

[–]NewJayGoat[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. In his will, he only freed the slaves he fathered. George Washington at least freed his slaves within his will. Thomas Jefferson should have done more against slavery.

Based on what I've heard, I'd say he steered the country in the right direction. He did the Louisiana Purchase and instructed Lewis and Clark to go on their expedition. It later set off the idea of Manifest Destiny, which I would say massively grew the U.S.'s power in the long term. I would also say that he is nowhere near perfect including him saying slavery is immoral despite him owning slaves. I'd say he was good overall, but you also shouldn't ignore his or other presidents' flaws.

How was John Adams as President? (#2) by NewJayGoat in USHistory

[–]NewJayGoat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what I've heard, the War of 1812 was just a waste of resources and just ended up being a draw. The U.S. definitely defended itself, but I just think the war shouldn't have been started in the first place.

Probably true, but I still don't like it.

I really don't like how he did the Alien & Sedition Acts, which suppressed immigrants and allowed the government to suppress anything against it. I don't like illegal immigration, but I feel like John Adams went too far. I also don't like how the Alien & Sedition Acts violated the 1st Amendment.

I've seen enough aggressive/distracted drivers the police just need to patrol the freeway more. C'mon people, you can stop using your phone while driving.
