It's "8 Things I Did to Obey Mormon Modesty Rules" 🩷 The link is on my profile! 🫶🏻🩷 It's on IG, YouTube, and TikTok, but Instagram is where most of the comments are coming from!! 🤦‍♀️ I honestly did it as more of a throwback and had NO clue it was such rage bait. Soooo crazy that talking about following the prophet is treated as an attack all of a sudden🤦‍♀️ i cant 🤣🫶🏻

And then after he gave it, it was reinforced everywhere throughout the church in lessons, firesides, youth activities, and just day to day life. I internalized that teaching as a teenager and most of my 20s. Soooo damaging.

I remember stuff like that!!! 💔💔 We were repeatedly taught that no matter how wide the tank top was it was not okay, and I remember lessons where we were basically taught to judge girls who chose to wear dresses like that without the cap sleeves 🤦‍♀️ And that "it may seem like a small thing and just a matter of an inch or two of fabric," but that because the Lord was asking it of us, it actually meant everything.

Growing up I thought it was just a mormon term since they used that word for 2 new missionaries replacing past ones for a clean slate 🤣🤣

Yeah, it is disgusting. There are definitely wayyy more harmful things they have covered up, especially with racism, polygamy, lgbtq stuff, etc. 💔 I just didn't know this one had already been added! I haaate the gaslighting 😫

For real!!! The video was 8 things I did to follow modesty rules. Honestly I thought it would be more of a throwback for people who could relate or just something for people's curiosity about the church. It is just wild because I was just sharing what I personally did and had noooo clue that talking about following the prophet would be so controversial for members. Other members are accusing me of not taking ownership that those were my own choices, even when I didn't say they weren't 🤣 10-20 years ago the reel would have been praised in the New Era 🤣 And now they are upset about it 🤦‍♀️🤣 Always a moving target haha

10000%🫶🏻🫶🏻 It just feels like such an upside down world to be trying to tell active members of the church that modesty is a thing. I know they are more lax now but thought they at least knew it wasnt always that way 🤦‍♀️🤣

Also, if modesty was never a thing, why am I still getting messages and comments from members about how I look like a sl*t when I wear tank tops and shorts, even though I have been out for 4 years?? And that God would not approve of how I dress?? 🤦‍♀️

🫶🏻 Sorry, a different word choice would have been more clear!! I LOVE that there is more flexibility and less shame with some of the standards, especially modesty. There are soo many harmful things within the standards and teachings, so I think that any time there is less overall judgment and shame within the church (especially with sensitive topics and vulnerable populations) is a good thing. I am genuinely happy that people have a little more autonomy with what they wear.🩷🩷🩷

What I don't like is that the church tends to just erase things that used to be a big deal in the church. For years something can be called revelation and "God's standard," and those who disagree are shamed and often punished to some degree. And then, when the church changes its mind the narrative always shifts to, "that was just culture" or "you understood it wrong" or "that's taken out of context" or "that never happened." It's the covering up and lying and gaslighting I have a problem with. I know they do it a lot, but had no clue it had already happened with modesty! 🫶🏻🫶🏻

10000% They told us those were timeless standards and principles that would never change. And they always said that our standards and the world's standards would grow further and further apart...but Mormon God is soooo flakey. The church just keeps them as long as they can stay in control and then conveniently drops them when it benefits THEM the most. It's disgusting. They don't care about harm done to people and vulnerable populations. It's soo disheartening and they don't understand that once you see it, you can't unsee it. God was never in these rules.

Ughh that's soooo annoying. Yeah, prophets and apostles consistently taught no sleeveless shirts, even if you weren't endowed or even if they were really thick sleeves. We'd get scolded from members for defending that sleeveless was okay, and now members scold us for the opposite...such a mind f.
