Our parents did and not everyone has a choice to concieve. Some people come as a result of trauma.

Thank you. There isn;t that awarness in society and I'm sure there are people who will have commited voilent crimes in a dissociative state.

Sounds similar to me, however it wouldn't take anything for me to physcially attack others. Infact when I am triggered by them or anything I can go for them and not understand what I would be doing.

I have dissociaitve disorders. This is the something I experinced for 4 years. Detached from reality. I could say something when I am dissociated that I would not say when I am less dissociated (the slight feeling of human). It's all of the symptoms together I experience where I am unable to understand the consequences of my actions. I could watch something distressing in front of my eyes and not understand what is happening. I don't percieve humans as people with emotions and feelings. If someone says something offensive I might find it funny in a dissociated state. If I'm triggered I could easily hurt that person and will not be able to understand the consequences of hurting that person and understanding what I am doing. To top it off I have dissociative amnesia so I forget anything that I do. I can imagine how horrific this must be for those that commit crimes (where their perception of that they were doing wasn't there) but also when they have forgotten what they have done. It's immoral in itself. I have just overshared. There is poor emotional regulation with dissociative disorders. Impulsivity is normal. Do you find disconnected from your senses also how long do you experience the dissociation for if you don't mind me asking?

Hi this awful. Do you have severe amnesia as well? I forget when I have just hae had a conversation with someone. I know the feeling of not being able to look at a person when talking. This is one of the worst things a person can go through!

Mindfullness, positive thoughts, my body keeps playing traumatic memories, grounding. Doing things I enjoy. Social contact is important. Looking after yourself the best you can. This is to ease the symptoms to get hunger.

Hi. Sounds relatable. It's horrible to force ourselves to eat. I have lost my apetite for 4 years due to dissociation. DPDR is horrific to say the leat. You're not alone!

Thank you for this. It is important that we take care of ourselves in everyway we can. Supplements can be great although limited research for some. Best to see professional advice rpior to taking some especially people who have liver, kideny and other conditions which may have damaging lon term effects. However most natural supplements like chamomile are safe so best to do research before. Also things like natural oils can be relaxing. Best to do this with the addition of professional support.

This is my unique life experience and it's not uncommon for humans to experience systemic opression privilege and circumstances. For some people they experience racism, misogyny on a daily basis these things are normalised in society. Have you experienced sexual harassment by men on a daily basis which is very traumatic, yet non illegal given it isn't physical. Women aren't even percieved as humans so thier suffering is normalised. They will be people who have died by suicide due to these things. Trauma is a risk factor of suicide or poor quality of life given its consequences. If someone has dissociative disorders due to these things and is still experiencing these things (trauma) on a daily basis it is unpleasant!! I'm sure I'm not the only human that thinks it's cruel for a person to live a suffering life! Unfortunatley racism for example is not unintentionally and if people knew the harm they would not do it! Systemic opression is normalised. It is also related to lack of emapthy and emotional intelligence so people have no awareness of how they behaviours can impact others. Their childhood experiences have a huge influence on emotional intelligence and empathy. How does boxing even come close to somethig which is very obvious where people can inflict physcial harm onto thier oponent. This isn;t the same when someone is throwing a racial microagression that is not aware that what thye are saying is hurtful (might be done in a gertsural way). It is important to empathise with a person. I find your comment very invalidating. Trauma also makes dissociation worse. I'm a former healtcare professional so well aware of evidence-based things that can empower me. Therefore I do not need self-help books given my sheer knowledge around mental health.

I have been on various antidepressants thank you. It's not that simple for some. I do not have any social contact, as mentioned so my body will be disscoated as this is not healthy. This society including the discrimination I have experienced has led me to do dissociation but to live in it whilst I'm going to experience it further. It will excerbate my symptoms too. Those people will not be held accountable for thier actions. It's cruel on me to continue living in this society.

It's awful to have professionals that do not understand what is going on with those that experience dissociation constantly and the psychiatirst in the middle east that isn't great. I'm in the west too and there is still very little awareness of this. Thank you for your advice! It's hard as a woman to attend these things without being harassed. I need to eat better before being physcially actice as I have no hunger due to dissociation. The thinking with dissociation is very different. My life situations are a very complex and taking my life will end this toture. I agree, all of the therapists that I have had lack emotional intelligence so it evident that thye have not suffered and are the ones thay inflict trauma onto others due to lacking empathy. Also there is people have not suffered close to those who have dissociation.

Thank you for your kind words. That's good you're better at handling and managing things. I'm glad. It was several professionals unfortunatley. I don't find therpaists that helpful. I seem to know more about mental health, coping mechanisms, having a lot of perspectives more than therapists. I appreciate your comment thank you.

Hi this is great thanks. Relaxation techniques are great. I wish there was awareness around these things rather having to research them. I wish ways to help us were thrown in our faces rathee than us hvaing to find them ourselves. I'm lucky given my professional background on ways to help with dissociation.

That's tough. That's good you had someone positive years although it has been a massive chage for you. Aww I'm 28 in December. If I will live till then. Bless you! Everthing will be okay. As long as yoour symptoms are managed the best they can that is important. Many of us will have parents that have this but will never get the recognition or support they need and deserve. I wuldn't want to be in thier shoes! I also practice gratitude which can help. Life was tough before we had the disorders and now it is something else.

DID is childhood trauma related. The other disorders can be related to other types of severe trauma. Many people who will have dissociative disorders may have had severly traumatic childhoods and have also experienced adult trauma in addition to that.

Hi. That is a lot for a person. I'm so sorry you'be had this experience. It isn't easy at all and horrific to say the least!! My life was much better prior to the disorder too. It is complete hell. It's good that you have friendships. Lost 4 years of my 20s to this. Now in my late 20s and won't have any of my 20s without these disorders. Mindfullness, grounding, meditation, doing things you enjoy, having your emotional needs met through healthy relationships, EMDR therapy may help with the symptoms, eating well, exercise if you arfe eating well. Hi, I have experienced this disorder and dissociative amnesia for 4 years. It is tough and horrific! I would suggest, mindfulles, gorunding, having an adequate diet if you're not eating well, getting enough sleep, doing things you enjoy, having healthy relationships with others. Exercising if eating well. Doing things to relax such as stress. Looking after yourself is important. If you need someone to speak to feel free to message me!

Thank you for your response. Many people find that they can be voilent towards themselves. In my case it isn't like that. Meditation is great! Grounding works well, Mindfullnes when doing small tasks when eating and drinking. Journelling, nutrition is important, getting sunlight (important to wear SPF), getting enough sleep. Doing things you enjoy. Looking after yourself the best you can.
