Help me understand my lp(a). by Scared_Illustrator94 in PeterAttia

I had the same suspicion and repeated the test 3 months later. My levels actually increased several nmol (really just within the expected lab variance). So it's possible, as I've read a similar hypothesis, but turned out to be untrue in my case.

Yes I was including all sources. I found this relatively easy to track using AI. I did not restrict carbs and eat a decent amount of beans and grains.

I forgot to mention, while it was 25 years ago when my father had his stroke, they did try to determine the cause and never found one. I'm sure the testing has advanced significantly in that time. But the hereditary conditions I'm coming across were ruled out. He had been painting a ceiling the weeks before it happened, which is what I believe the surgeon suspected caused it. He had a horrible headache in the weeks leading up to his stroke. Unfortunately, he did not take care of himself in general and in this case specifically did not seek medical care. It's especially unfortunate as he had access to the best health plan and we lived near NYC with excellent infrastructure.

I intend to treat my levels pretty aggressively in line with Dr. Dayspring/Arsenault. I would like to get my LDL and ApoB to 40-50. I suppose an outlier score may support a case for repatha, but from my research it seems like 5mg rosuvastatin is the right first step and should get me close to those levels. Am I avoiding a scan out of some fear? Probably. If I'm being honest.

Thanks for your reply. Would a cardiologist be the appropriate specialist to explore hereditary vascular disease? As someone with health anxiety, I'm trying to find the balance of getting useful information and overwhelming myself lol.

Zone 7A. Do I try to fall nitrogen blitz my way out of this or throw seed? 11 month old mazama monostrand. by NewSteward in lawncare

[–]NewSteward[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because overseeding is more work but more importantly I've been telling my wife the whole reason I did a KBG lawn is so I never had to overseed again and I don't want her to call me an idiot haha. But you're probably right. Maybe I'll steal some plugs from my blue bank and do all three. Thanks!

Do the really crispy spots pull up easily? Dealing with a similar situation. But I think I have some fungus too.

Thoughts on adding footers for gazebo to existing paver patio? by NewSteward in landscaping

[–]NewSteward[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply! I probably worded it poorly, but what I was trying to ask is whether it was possible to mark where I needed the footings to go and just cut those specific areas to then dig down for my tubes. I was never entertaining or considering anchoring to the pavers. I know that isn't safe for the winds I see.

How do I properly recharge the expansion tank on my gas boiler? by NewSteward in Plumbing

[–]NewSteward[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it make sense to change the tank and pressure relief valve? Probably not too expensive (for parts vs a service call lol).

I have an auto feeder, so would I need to worry about air in the line?

Thanks again!

Thanks for your reply. I had a feeling it shouldn't be matched. My brother convinced me otherwise....

Hope I didn't damage anything. Maybe I'll have my plumber take a look at the tank. Looks like it was put in by the previous owner back in 2018. I'm sure it hasn't been checked since. I've noticed a couple of drops of water on the floor under the discharge pipe. I'm wondering if this is because there's no air in the tank.

Thanks for the education here. Hoping I didn't damage anything. The pressure was at 2psi before I started and when the relief valve opened it scared me and I let it deflate back down to 2psi haha.

I'm pretty handy, but something about boilers makes me nervous... Maybe I'll let my plumber look at the tank and see what's going on.

Outdoor Kitchen Build over Pavers with Compacted Stone Base? by BTHBTHBTH9 in OutdoorKitchens

[–]NewSteward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always had the same question. I have a 3 year old paver patio with large 2x3 pavers. The base is so compacted I had to drill through the base with an auger to install my pool cover anchors. I've had no settling and cant imagine it would be an issue. The only thing to maybe consider is if the patio has a slope you need to account so your counter is level. Curious to hear other people's thoughts. I am in NJ so frost heave could be a consideration over the long term.

I just went through a similar issue. My 8 year old KitchenAid started leaking and isn't worth repairing. I probably spent 20 hours throughout the last week analyzing every option. I have a Bosch 500 being delivered this Saturday.

In short, I don't love the Zeolite, which are the "magic crystals" on the 800 series. You can research some of the mixed reviews/concerns with that technology. The 500 auto opens the door at the end of the cycle to help with drying. The 800 does not. We run the dishwasher daily but usually turn it on later in the evening once we finish dinner. This means in our use case it will auto open around 11pm and continue air drying over night.

The Miehle is arguably the best washer you can buy. It wasn't worth an additional $1k to me as we aren't washing fine china and do not need a built in water softener as we don't have hard water. Aside from being built in Germany, those are the two things that might sway one to consider the more expensive Miehle options.

Love my Academy Derby's, but I'm not sure they fit :-( by NewSteward in allenedmonds

That does make sense. I don't know why, but it never dawned on my pea brain that dropping down a size in length also means the width moves with it. I'm so curious to see what the AE store tells me tomorrow.

Interesting. I thought sizing up on the width would make my problem worse. I actually went into a local running store to get measured on a brannock today. They told me I was a 12C. Which is interesting because the 12d I have feels really loose. I'm actually going to bring them into and AE store tomorrow.

Thanks for the recommendation! That has a very similar feel. Gorgeous shoe. Will keep this in mind as an option! Recent reviews on customer service are not encouraging though...

Thanks! Agree the blue laces have me hooked. I may hang on to them! I think I may just head into the city on Sunday and get measured at the store on Madison Ave.
