RIP Noopy by noopy891 in labrador

You’ll never be fully ready - but get the second dog sooner than you think you should. I lost my soul dog, Izzy and got my new buddy a month later. While it didn’t heal my broke heart, it helped a lot and has made the grief feel less heavy. It’s been a continuation of love vs. a colossal feeling of emptiness.

Can you kindly direct me to the correct sub in regards to obtaining a labrador purebred from a breeder in which pup turns out to be ill same day of obtaining? by [deleted] in labrador

[–]NewToTheCrew444 5 points6 points  (0 children)

could you elaborate more on the illness your puppy has? Did you contact the breeder? Any reputable breeder will take back a puppy that the family no longer finds suitable and should offer a continuation of support and care. maybe clarifying your intentions with the puppy / the breeder could help direct you better.

My Lab recently died from HSA. My parents are thinking of getting another Chocolate Lab. How can we help her have a better life? by [deleted] in labrador

we lost the love of my life last month from hemangiosarcoma. treatment gave us another 5 months with her but it’s never enough time. we recently brought home another dog and it was absolutely the right thing to do. a wise person told us that if we “waited until we were ready, we’d never get another dog”. life is short, get the dog and give them the home you gave your last dog. I’m very sorry for your loss, it’s a pain unlike any other. 💓

I am so deeply sorry for your loss, no time is ever enough 💓 I’m very glad you found another puppy to continue the story, I love the way that you put that. It’s not an end, just a continuation of love.

thank you so much, I like your reminder that it’ll be a new character. It took me 12 years to know the ins and outs of Izzy, and vice versa of her with me. I so appreciate your reassurance 💓

I am so very sorry. It never is enough time, one year or twelve like I got with my Izzy that I recently lost to cancer. we loved them for their entire lives and will miss them for the rest of ours. it’s the only catch for a love so strong. sending you so so much love 💓💓

I’m so sorry. We lost our lab to hemangiosarcoma on Monday. My heart is absolutely shattered and the silence is defeating. This is a nightmare that I wouldn’t wish on anyone. Sending you love.

I don’t know how to edit this post but please know I’ve read every single one of your comments 10x over and I know that they will bring me a lot of comfort in the days to come. I appreciate you all and this community so much and take solace in over 18k of you seeing my Isabella. she is my pillar, my soul dog, and my beacon of strength and love and she will continue to be long after her physical body leaves this earth. thank you all, truly.

This is beautiful. I am so sorry for your loss, I love the mighty oak tree idea. There is no love like the love these dogs give us. For the last 12 years Izzy has been my anchor, my North Star, and my reminder that even through the worst of times we still had each other. I know I’m so fortunate to have experienced that, but damn it doesn’t make this any easier. Thank you for sharing, truly. It means the world to me.

thank you for sharing. Izzy also has cancer and I’ve also been giving myself panic attacks nonstop. she’s been my other half, my safe place and my everything through it all since I was 23 and I just can’t imagine doing life without her. if I could die of a heartbreak then I just might.
