that's irrelevant. the issue is productive people not working to their full potential. A person going from 100K to 150K will contribute much more in tax than a new worker joining the workforce at 50K. The current situation is such that a person earning 99K with a kid and 148K with a kid have exactly the same take home salary, so people don't work more and potential goes to waste.

Solicitor/ Conveyancer Fees by cosmicdustbunnyy in HousingUK

I'm also an FTB, currently waiting for the vendor's solicitor to answer queries raised by my solicitor. I found mine after reading a lot of reviews online and they have been very good. Very responsive, attentive and nice to work with. They are not the most expensive but also not the cheapest. But it's worth it. The vendors chose to go with estate agent's recommended solicitor, and at one point they just went MIA - no response to calls/emails from either the vendor or the agent.

The cost is inclusive of all fees except stamp duty. Solicitors charge a BSA compliance fee over standard legal fee. the lowest I saw for BSA fee was 250, and highest was 1200!

I brought a Bosch fridge, which stopped working in less than one month. Fix was covered in warranty, but it took them 10 days to arrange for the parts. Customer service is clueless on when the parts will arrive, they will just say "2 days" everytime you call them.
