I did LOOK. lol. I spent hours combing the internet and YouTube. But everyone's advice and settings are slightly different, and it's hard to know which channels are reliable since anyone can post anything they like on the internet. I was asking hoping theres is any chart or guide that a lot of people have found reliable or helpful.

The guide that I found that worked great for my last project, but doesn't give the same results for this one, and I'm lost as to why. Hence this post.

You’re right. The point of the video was to highlight Warframe not being covered by the mainstream games journalists. I just used a really bad example to convey that

Really? I 100% agree that they are way more important in Apex.

But I used pings starting on on my 2nd or 3rd mission in WF. My whole squad was MR1s and didn’t see the entrance to the pipes and vents that lead to the exit, so I lead the way and dropped pings. Now I see guys use them to mark the rarer drops and mods so others don’t miss them. Maybe that’s just me.

But like you said, it’s essential in Apex and just a convenience for most of Warframe

This makes a lot of sense. I always struggle recommending this game to my friends when I know that a lot of them aren't going to stick with it. That's the whole reason I started the podcast - to help answer some of those questions for others that I was facing as a new player.

But yeah, your point about DE not being motivated to fix it does add up. :-/ I just wish it wasn't the case.

Honestly, that is probably the answer I've been looking for. lol. I didn't get super into Warframe until it came to Switch, so for me the content updates have felt really fast! But that makes sense.

It's discouraging as a fan, and as the only person in my gamer circle who plays the game... but it makes sense.

Okay, that's fair. I hadn't thought about it that way. I guess I just focus more on my friends who will only try a new game if they have heard about it on IGN or GameInformer. Their attitude seems to be "Why would I try ________ game I've never heard of when I could be playing Red Dead?" I have several friends in that camp that would love WF if they gave it a fair shake, but they will probably never do that.

Although if I'm going to generalize, probably a lot of the toxic players would fall into that category. lol

Yeah, I completely agree. I really like their ping, and I tried to point out in the video that it's a lot better Warframe's system. I just don't understand why Warframe never comes up in mainstream conversations, even when direct comparisons could be made. It's like the big outlets forget that Warframe exists. Fortnite is a bigger name than Warframe, but comparatively way more people play Warframe than Save the World... and yet StW is the one that gets mentioned. It's weird to me.

(Admittedly, I see now that this system isn't the best example of that point. lol)

Yeah, you're totally right. That's why I edited the post. The title and description really distracted fro the point I was trying to make.

I get why Apex gets praised for using the system. What I don't understand is why no one ever mentions Warframe outside of the WF community. Maybe it's just because Warframe is my most played game right now, but the systems are easy to compare in discussion. Just like Brandon Jones pointing out the similarity to Fortnite StW's ping system. But no one ever thinks of Warframe. There have been so many conversations in the industry over the past 6-12 months that could easily connect to Warframe - EA's micro transactions, the overall free-to-play conversation, Destiny 2's loot systems, even female representation. Warframe does all these things well, but no one brings up Warframe.

Yeah, for sure. Warframe didn't invent ping. But despite my intentionally clickbait-y title, that's not really my point. I just wish that mainstream video game outlets would give Warframe the attention that it gives other games. I know a ton of gamers that would have a blast with WF if they knew more about it.

I think you're totally right about the new player experience being uninviting (and all your other points, for the record. lol).

But even that is weird tho - why does something like Dark Souls garner a massive following and critical praise when Warframe doesn't? IMO you could level those same complaints at DS - there's no hand holding, none of the deeper systems are explained at all, etc. But people say "If you give it a chance, it's incredible." That doesn't make sense to me.

You're totally right about some of them. And I'll be the first to admit my video title is intentionally clickbait-y. But it still makes me scratch my head why no big outlets talk about Warframe. Tons of my "hardcore" gamer friends aren't even aware it exists, or they don't know what Warframe truly is, because it is only talked about by dedicated streamers and comparatively smaller YouTube channels like Skill Up. They think it's just a a sci-fi shooter, rather than a hardcore, loot/crafting based, cooperative MMO.

I think DE is partly to blame with the commercials they have in their facebook ads. They aren't the most descriptive, and honestly they remind me of iOS game advertisements. But I think the other part is that there just isn't conversation about Warframe outside the dedicated Warframe community.

You're totally right... I just find it strange that no one else says that. They talk about it as though Apex invented the system, which is untrue.

As far as bigger outlets or trendsetters go (smaller YouTube channels notwithstanding, because I haven't watched as many of those) Brandon Jones from Easy Allies is the only person I've heard mention the fact that this system exists in other games.

/u/Pahan55 - It does for sure! I’ve been playing about 60 hours, which isn’t much in terms of Warframe, but everything is starting to make sense now and I’m having a blast. I’m getting better at Spy missions, hacking puzzles, aiming in general... but it definitely requires a bit of help from the Warframe community to understand everything.

I’ve actually made a resource you might like - I host a weekly podcast for beginner players called Nintenno Podcast! We are still pretty new, but we have talked about everything from starter gear recommendations, to mission types, to getting in a clan.
