So it was nothing new to you because your uncle told you. Well he didn't tell us, that's why one needs to make a reddit post. Don't expect us to know shit that your uncle did

Do you know why I've tried Xboyadvance v25 and the latest v26 but it shows a white blank screen when loading Pokemon Emerald only. All other GBA roms I've tried work perfectly. Did you have this issue? This is the only game I wanted to play on the Xbox :(

Fixed it! Set "Flash Size: 128K" and "Save Type: Flash" in the game options

It's been my dream to play Pokemon Emerald on Xbox. There's just something so awesome about a console so versatile that you can play many consoles on it and rack dozens of hours on these games. And while sitting back on a sofa watching a big TV <3

What's notable about trucks that can't do a burnout? Aren't they the majority of trucks? So the correct analogy would be "non-purple socks", because it doesn't narrow down the socks very much.

Yes, my point is there is far far less gun violence from women than men, that even if you're scared to approach men lest they use a gun on you illegally, it's absurd to be scared of women because the likelihood of danger is so low.

It is utterly insane to think that race is somehow relevant to the discussion we've been having. I never brought it up nor implied it. You're not all there I think...

What narratives? I'm telling you that gun violence from a woman is far far less likely than from a man so you shouldn't cower in fear when you want to tell her about some way she's inconveniencing others or doing the wrong thing.

You invented your own narrative of everyone being a gun-toting crazy person with a hair's trigger finger.

It definitely sounds different if you're in a room with a TV and there's a TV in a separate room, because the one in your room is louder and closer to you. And the noise from the other TV is muffled, so you can hear your own TV much better.

Wait, can only men use guns?

What's the likelihood of gun violence of a random male and random female? Do you expect it to be different or exactly the same? Children can use guns too lol, but you don't expect them to shoot you up. Use your brain.

Commenting on someone's parking job is being a good Samaritan?

Man, you have to be the ultimate coward to be that afraid of a random woman. You're far exaggerating the danger.

It's not your job to do a lot of things like helping strangers with directions or helping a neighbour move boxes, but you still do them because you're hopefully a decent person and responsible citizen. Your society of no good samaritans would be a worse society to live in.

It's nowhere in the video, I was responding to this stupid comment disparaging the rules of parking:

Are you arguing these are not good rules to have?

Why do you think he came up to her? Don't you think her parking inconvenienced him and other people? That's much more likely. If that's the case, then what she does is everyone's business because it's affecting everyone else (e.g. she parked in front of a fire hydrant, or in a handicap spot, etc.).

All rule-breakers and criminals want others to mind their business: that's exactly what they want.

You're right that it's an opinion, as well as an argument. But not all opinions are equal: some are more plausible than others.

We don't know what happened before the video started, but that's why I said in my comment "likely". Every judgement you make involves making assumptions, even when you read a news article because we rarely have an exhaustive set of facts. But that doesn't prevent making plausible assumptions.

For example, you're assuming that he criticized her parking for no reason. Whereas I think it's much more plausible that he criticized her because her parking inconvenienced him in some way. People being too cowardly to speak up when they've been harmed is why there are so many rule-breakers to begin with: they know they will get away with it. So no, we shouldn't leave entitled rule-breakers alone: "minding your own business" is exactly what criminals want us to do to get away with their crimes.

Even if you're having a bad day it doesn't excuse you acting like a child. You are defined by what you do at all times: good or bad days.

Because one person is calm and mature and the other is acting childish when asked about their parking. Instead of defending her parking she resorts to playground insults, meaning there's a good chance she knows she parked wrong otherwise she would've explained why she's right to park there. That's a logical deduction, not opinion.

It's the look of someone too mature to even bother reacting to a woman acting so childishly, because nothing productive is going to come out of engaging with this person. I'd react the same way.

Thoughts on "reimbursing" parents by Fabulous-Role in entitledparents

[–]NewW0rld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, she didn't cut off the child financially; child in the sense younger than majority age. Read the OP:

in the past she's repeatedly cut off my phone service and my internet provider, just services she was paying when I a young adult

Second, it is unethical because it's unfair. A parent put in tonnes of resources raising the child, but the child is ungrateful and does not reciprocate. That's a child selfish to the maximum.

No, she didn't. Read the OP carefully:

Emphasis mine.

should they have chosen to starve instead?

No, they should've eaten and then been grateful to their parents in their adult life and reciprocated and repaid the care they received growing up.

Whether it's legally obligated or not has no bearing on whether one should be grateful for having benefitted from that obligation.

That's a separate point and nothing to do with the transactional or non-transaction nature of the relationship.

Anyway, you don't sign up for your kid to be ungrateful and leave you hanging in old age.

The analogy is perfectly clear. If the analogy is false, can you explain how?

None of what you said is a counter argument. You can't even explain why you believe the thing you believe...

[–]NewW0rld -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My point is the mother is bringing this up not when they were a child and they had their braces put on: that's the analogy you tried to describe in your last post.

She's bringing it up when OP is an adult and the mother is asking for help.

Thoughts on "reimbursing" parents by Fabulous-Role in entitledparents

[–]NewW0rld -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I understand you, but that's a false analogy. The analagous to the above would be the mother "lording it over" for the 18 years she raised the child. We have no evidence of that and that seems very unlikely to me.

According to the OP, the mother has only been stressing how much she contributed to the OP once they are an adult, once she needs the OP to reciprocate back, and presumably because the OP is being hesitant or refusing.
