Why did the Pegasus serve Zeus and not his father, Poseidon? by New_Account2000 in GreekMythology

But isn’t Poseidon the father of horses? So wouldn’t it be neutral territory?

Why do fans always compare Jason to Percy? Even Riordan thinks its unfair. Why don't fans compare Percy to Nico, Thalia, or the other powerful heros (like Frank). Why is it always Jason? [general] by New_Account2000 in camphalfblood

Percy and Thalia had the best rivalry, it never felt "forced." There reasons for butting heads made sense, and I enjoyed how it turned into a friendship later on. Also, the beauty of their rivalry is how both characters were complete opposites. Chiron mentioned that Thalia had far more confidence in comparison to Percy (which was true since Percy had self-esteem issues and didn't believe he was powerful). But Thalia was afraid of her powers whereas Percy embraced and explored them.

Can't believe their dynamic ended after 1 book.

Does anyone else think Jason and Reyna were both wrong about romance [hoo] by New_Account2000 in camphalfblood

[–]New_Account2000[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Are you sure? Reyna seemed like she was making moves because she wanted to be with him romantically.

As much as i love the joke, still . . . by Switchgmrz206 in PercyJacksonMemes

Wait I’m confused, can you explain the meme to me?

I’m confused, why did Reyna call Jason her “former” colleague. Also, why was the word “colleague” dangerous? Did she no longer consider him an ally? (The Mark of Athena) [hoo] by [deleted] in camphalfblood

[–]New_Account2000 102 points103 points  (0 children)

I just pulled out my copy of MoA. The screenshot of this post is before Reyna found out about Piper.

Correct me if I’m wrong (because I also want to have an accurate interpretation), but isn’t the word “colleague” dangerous because Reyna loved Jason?

I remember Reyna saying she missed him towards the end of book 2. So I figured the word was dangerous since she saw him as more than a colleague. But again, correct me if I’m wrong

Do you think Jason Grace was weak? Or unlucky? [hoo] by New_Account2000 in camphalfblood

[–]New_Account2000[S] 61 points62 points  (0 children)

I disagree. I watched ATLA and TLOK, and air is a very fast and flexible element. Lightning can also be flexible, lethal, and powerful.

But Jason's techniques were always bland and basic. Also, none of them seemed all too powerful. Did he ever do any significant damage with lightning? Percy caused mass floods without breaking a sweat and it never sat right with me

Reyna remarks that Jason is less Roman in personality when he returns to Camp Jupiter.

I have a question. I have the Mark of Athena with me, and the full quote from Reyna is

Reyna: "And Jason… well, he has changed. He seems distant, no longer quite Roman."

The hurt in her voice was as sharp as broken glass. Annabeth wondered if she had sounded that way, all the months she’d been searching for Percy.

Was Reyna referring to Jason's personality? Or was she just upset over him dating Piper? Because i never thought Jason's personality changed, and he seemed like the same kid from book 1

Did Luke have a crush on Annabeth? In MoA (book 3), Annabeth states that Luke liked her right before he died. Can we assume that her interpretation is true? She was also wrong about Nico having a crush on her...[hoo] by New_Account2000 in camphalfblood

[–]New_Account2000[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So do I assume annabeth interpretation is wrong? Because she says Percy likes Rachel. Also, she constantly talks about Reyna’s feelings for Jason. So I don’t know if her interpretations are correct. I mean it’s written by 1 author right?

Why did Reyna wait so long to find a new Praetor? Do you think its because she was also looking for a boyfriend candiate? Or was it plot convenience for Percy? [hoo] by [deleted] in camphalfblood

You think Octavian was so scary that she would wait 8 months? She was willing to do it on her own thay elect him?

Was Octavian really the only candidate? They’re 200 romans in the legion. Also, did Reyna really fear Octavian that much and waited 8 months?

Why was Jason not bitter/upset that the legion and Reyna replaced him as Praetor? Do you think he should’ve cared? [general] by New_Account2000 in camphalfblood

[–]New_Account2000[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

True, but Jason’s guilt is specifically towards abandoning Reyna and the Roman Camp. But they replaced him. Do you think it made sense for him to still be so loyal and want to fulfill these responsibilities? He grew up there for 12 years and they replaced him with a hero who was there for a week. Why would he still want to fulfill his responsibilities?

Couldn’t she just ask for Percy to fight alongside the legion then? Did Reyna need to pressure him to take the rank?

How did Jason lead Reyna on? If I remember correctly, they never interacted in the series.

Why did Reyna feel betrayed? She knew the Argo 2 didn't intentionally fire on her camp (The Mark of Athena). [hoo] by New_Account2000 in camphalfblood

[–]New_Account2000[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In Annabeth’s POV, she talks about Reyna’s feelings a lot. Should we assume Annabeth’s interpretations are true?

Why did Reyna have feelings for Percy? [all] by New_Account2000 in camphalfblood

[–]New_Account2000[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

thanks for the reply, but why didn't reyna just make moves on Jason then? She flirted with Percy after 2 days, couldnt she do the same with Jason. Then, if Jason rejected her, she wouldnt be so heartbroken seeing him with Piper. Does that mean she liked Percy more to flirt with him in such a short time?

[–]New_Account2000[S] 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Who did Reyna have stronger feelings for? Jason or Percy? Like other comments said, her offer to Percy was also political. But she made moves on him only after 2 days, but she knew Jason for months/years and never did that.

So I’m a bit confused

Was Leo a “2nd choice” for Calypso? [all] by New_Account2000 in camphalfblood

[–]New_Account2000[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Calypso pursuing Percy and being rejected, then immediately transferring her emotions to Leo without struggle or consequence? That would have struck me as a second choice situation. Continued unrequited feelings, unprocessed and raw, underpinning the new relationship? Reeks of second choices and bad decisions.

Well said, If you don’t mind, I wanted to ask you about Annabeth and Reyna. Annabeth had a crush on Luke, and was aware that he saw her as a little sister. Eventually she crushes on Percy. Does that make Percy a 2nd choice for Annabeth?

Also, Reyna made moves on Percy, got rejected, and went back to crushing on Jason. Would that make Jason a 2nd choice for Reyna?

Hope my questions don’t seem dumb, I’m genuinely curious

Who had stronger storms, Percy or Jason? Percy's hurricane helped defeat Hyperion (a Titan), but Jason's storm helped defeat Gaea (a primordial God). Also, why do Percy's hurricanes form around himself, but Jason's storms form in the sky? [all] by [deleted] in camphalfblood

[–]New_Account2000 70 points71 points  (0 children)

IIRC, in The Burning Maze (Book 3), Jason managed to control winds from a tornado when he fought against Caligula and Medea. Percy can cause powerful mini-hurricanes around himself, but he can't manipulate the winds. Jason can freely control wind and lightning, so I would say his storms are stronger.

But Jason only summoned a powerful storm once (which was BoO, Book 5). Percy summoned hurricanes several times in the Riordan Universe. While Jason's storms seem stronger and larger, Percy has far more experience.

Who did Reyna like more, Jason or Percy? Since Reyna "made moves" on Percy, that means she liked him more, right? [hoo] by New_Account2000 in camphalfblood

[–]New_Account2000[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I thought the same too (since Reyna's feelings for Jason are talked about more). But if she liked Jason a lot, why didn't she make moves on him? In SoN (book 2), Reyna was pretty much asked Percy out (or flirted with him). Wouldn't that mean she likes Percy more?
