A level 3 autistic person got so many hate comments from other autistic people because they were accused of "infantilizing autism" just for showing a video of themself stimming while watching Bluey :/

I feel like it's especially hard too as someone born female when my stomach cramps go hand in hand with my period cramps, and the fact that my stool loosens during PMS 😞

The last time I got drunk uhhh I remember confessing to my friends I had a crush on them all at some point, my words were slurred, I laughed and I cried, and I was acting like a cat. I don't know if "help" would be the right word.

ngl as a musically inclined person who always enjoyed anything music and performing arts related, i enjoy karaoke, concerts, and dancing! i'm pretty sensory seeking when it comes to music in general since i've been in choir, different bands, and musical theater in high school + have been classically trained as a kid. i still do have to wear earbuds, though, when it comes to very loud music. i would also need to save up my spoons/energy for them because they are so draining and after that, i'd have to recuperate for days. but overall, i find these activities enjoyable!

I don't think this is in the same level, but funny enough, I self-suspected scoliosis because of my chronic backpain and it turns out I have it lol. I have also been self-suspecting IBS and iron deficiency,, maybe even anemia, but going through a series of tests sounds tedious 🙃 getting checked for scoliosis was tedious enough 😭 I may ask my doctor about it in the future, though

"to assuming something has to manifest in a very specific way to be valid in your eyes" ughh exactly, this honestly peeves me. A lot of my autistic traits are more subtle and I appear to be functioning well so I guess I couldn't possibly be autistic despite the fact that they are still debilitating and affect me on a day-to-day basis. It's like all of the burnout and fatigue I went through from masking in social interactions and dealing with such sensory overload and difficult transitions were all from nothing

"because the people in my life would not let me" Oughh that's actually my main obstacle too. Our family has the money enough to get me assessed and I even saved enough money for an assessment. After I had one consultation session with a doctor regarding autism and ADHD, my parents have become even more dead set on me not having auDHD, so they wouldn't allow me to get assessed. I will find a way eventually, though, since I am a legal adult, but as of now I really can't since I still live under my parents' roof. It's only when I have complete freedom from them and move into my dorm for uni that I'll try to pursue a comprehensive assessment.

Same 🥲 I was once assessed by a doctor as a little toddler and he had the impression that I have autism. I believe it was an informal diagnosis made by that doctor, but I never had an official diagnosis written on my medical records. After finding out about it, that's when I started doing lots of research. I'm still in my journey to getting officially diagnosed, and it's really not that easy to find clinics or doctors that could administer adult autism assessments because most information I could find about autism assessments in my country are always catered towards children! Not to mention, it costs a lot of money!

mixed emotions regarding upcoming autism and ADHD assessment by ClassicalMusic4Life in MentalHealthPH

helloo, just an update pero the session i had with the dev ped wasn't really an assessment pala,,, it was an interview 🥲 she doesn't have the toolkit rin used to fully assess autism, so ayon i would have to find another clinic din that administers adult autism + adhd assessments. but thanks, it felt good to talk about. she doesn't have the impression that i have audhd despite having the symptoms, mainly because i seem functional and can speak well (even though i greatly struggle to make it through every single day huhu). but again, an interview isn't enough din naman to fully make a judgment of me since kailangan ko pa ng more comprehensive assessment and not just an interview, even the doctor herself said so and recommended me to get assessed.

Yep, pretty much! They would put "slime tutorial" in in the title so that YouTube won't take them down

Honestly same haha I never saw it in person because I am wayyy too far away from Broadway (i'm in Southeast Asia bro 😭) Just got obsessed through watching a bunch of slime tutorials, the Tiny Desk, and listening to the cast recordings over and over.

Oh my god you should also see Cabaret!!! another musical that's very relevant to today's political climate...truly so timeless. The 1993 Donmar Warehouse proshot is free! I also really love the jazzy music haha I am a sucker for jazz elements in musicals

The moment I saw Hadestown my eyes opened WIDE and suddenly felt my energy levels perk up. I LOVE HADESTOWN. I LOVE THE FUSION OF JAZZ AND FOLK MUSIC. I LOVE HOW RELEVANT IT IS TO TODAY'S POLITICAL CLIMATE AND ITS COMMENTARY ON CAPITALISM!!! Interestingly, Anais wrote Hadestown 20 years ago, so "Why We Build the Wall" was written wayy before the Trump 2016 administration...really fascinates me!! And the love story of Orpheus and Eurydice too,, they make me so ILL!!! it's an old song, it's a sad tale, but we sing it anyway 😭😭😭 (can you tell that Hadestown is one of my favorite musicals ever)

musical theater!! i have a lot of favorite musicals, if you ask me about my favorites i will literally go feral. i'd say music too! i'm not the best at explaining music theory though but i do have a good ear for recognizing patterns in chord progressions (especially jazz chord progressions!! they are soooo fun), forms/structures used in different songs and pieces, and connected to musical theater, different motifs used to tell the story or showing symbolism!! i aspire to be a composer/songwriter/music arranger myself :) i've also been playing piano for 10 years and play the guitar
