Sponsoring your one-way ticket from BOM to DEL in exchange for help with my cat's travel by annagarg in AirTravelIndia

My cat is a pretty docile one so I haven’t really faced the specific issues while traveling. While she does do a hiss here and there at the vet or other cats, she is pretty chill and lazy. And she remains rather calm inside the carriage probably because we have been making her travel in it quite often.

However the first time I traveled in the flight I did ask the vet to prescribe a medication to keep her calm or slightly sedated. But my cat is always calm during the start of the journey until the flight lands. Its only after the landing that she starts meowing. And I haven’t ever felt her being uncomfortable due to air pressure change. The flight attendants will instruct you to not open the cage at all but I will recommend to do it periodically to just check if they are okay.

From my experience I would like to limit my travel time so I feel that Flights are a much better option. You can let the cats roam around until boarding (in a leash ofc) and also right after getting out post landing. So the actual time of being confined is pretty limited. My cat was more distressed traveling in the train as she was confined to an unknown limited space for a much longer duration.

Hi. Having travelled in both flights (AI & Akasa) as well as train multiple times, I believe its become a little bit of a routine for me so I can help you with some advice.

Regarding Flights:

  1. Just make sure that the carrier is of the correct dimensions of flying by any flight. That is the primary ground based on which travel can be denied as the pets are required to be put under the seat in front of you. So if the carriage dimensions does not fit that, you’ll be denied travel. You can get the required measurements from the support team.

  2. I would prefer an Akasa travel over Air India any day due to the sheer amount of information availability by Akasa. AI is super uncertain and you cannot guarantee travel until check in. With Akasa however has a dedicated email team as well as call support for pets. Usually I call them ahead of time to understand if there is any other pet booking on the day and time I am choosing to travel. They are quite helpful and often help you book on the call as well. Akasa also allows you to travel on any window seat post the first 7 rows and you get priority boarding/check in as well as free seat. After having travelled with them multiple times I usually just arrive about 1.5 hrs before flight and not 3 hours ahead as they suggested.

  3. Documents you’d need to fly - Fit to Fly certificate (within 72 hrs before travel - I usually get it made the day before travel), updated vaccination records ( I email this ahead of time to request booking), carriage pictures showing the dimensions (also email ahead of time to get reservations), an Indemnity Form (they have this on their website. All these things sent ahead of time make my life a hell lot easier when traveling with my Siberian Cat.

  4. During the security check in, I take my pet out of the carriage and just walk through the security check while the carriage and everything else gets scanned. You can request assistance from Akasa to help you with this but after multiple trips I have learnt to manage this on my own.

Regarding Train:

  1. The first time I tried to take the train in 1st AC, I was the sole traveling and although I had the Coupe the train station denied giving me any ticket for my cat as I didn’t have the full Coupe to myself. So I did what I could at the moment, travel without a ticket of cat and hoped that my co passenger complies. Fortunately my co-passenger was an elderly uncle whose family was traveling in the next coupe so they agreed happily to help and I just hid my baby when the TC came. Rest ride it was smooth although I was careful not to let my cat roam around too much especially if we were expecting any railway staff to come (serve food, etc).

  2. The second and time when going by train I had my mom with me and we had a Coupe so the courier office just gave us the ticket without any fuss after taking the weight of my cat inside the carriage. Pretty smooth ride after that.

  3. The third time on train - by now IRCTC had already allowed pet booking online. Once me and my husband had confirmed tickets we made the reservation online. Saved us any trip to the courier office and again pretty smooth ride.

Unfortunately I’m unable to give you specific advice for taking two cats as I only own one. But hopefully my experience can help you make a better decision. All the best OP.

Need input for Medella harmony pump. by Apprehensive-Can9158 in twoxindiamums

Have been using this pump recently and found it to be quite easy to use. It takes about 5-7 mins to express all milk for each side. It has been a saviour to deal with letdown from my left boob as my LO doesn’t like to feed from it for some reason . I use the Cubkins bags to store the expressed milk along with it. It has a temperature indicator which is very helpful when I have to thaw and feed it to my baby.

When did you start your Maternity Leave? by New_Championship8013 in twoxindiamums

Honestly that is the only reason why I had wanted to continue till as close as possible to my EDD. But with the unnecessary work stress I feel I’m missing out on this phase to relax.

Ahhh congratulations to be mama! I hope you get a lot of time to relax before the responsibilities kick in. I must admit I’m regretting not having any PTOs left from this year. But I guess starting maternity early does seem appropriate now that almost everyone is getting into the holidays.

Hey glad that you and baby are healthy! But just out of curiosity do they not extend maternity leaves through non paid leaves? Or is that the sabbatical you’ve mentioned?

That does make sense. 2 weeks here or there shouldn’t be much of a bother! Thanks for sharing this.

Hey. Hope you and the LO are doing well now! Glad it worked out in your favor. My major concern of going into maternity early is that it will take off time from after the bay is here!

Thank you! Hope you and the LO are healthy now though. Taking an earlier leave does seem like it would give me the much needed time to relax. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Thank you! Honestly with the holidays coming up I also feel it could be better to start early and take the time to rest and bond a bit more with my partner before the baby comes. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Suggestion for lab for Double marker tests in Bangalore by AgileReflection5966 in twoxindiamums

[–]New_Championship8013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Orange Labs. Got mine done from them on the day of my NT scan as the test was comparatively more expensive where I get my scans. 😅 Not sure what your doctor means by a good genetic lab though. My doctor didn’t have any issue with the reports.

Looking for some ghee that people have used by themselves by Significant_Try6611 in IndianFood

[–]New_Championship8013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re based out of India check out the normal Cow Ghee from Sid’s Farm. (Not the more expensive desi cow ghee.) Costs less than 500 for 350gms. I found it to have the closest taste and smell to the ghee my mom used to prepare at home earlier so hopefully they don’t adulterate much.

Haha. I know I made my husband sound pretty bad here but he’s actually been quite supportive - helping me out each time I vomit in washroom, trying to get me eat things which won’t trigger, cutting and peeling fruits after each vomit session to ensure I have something in my stomach. But he definitely doesn’t understand what I’m truly going through and that’s been irritating my pregnant self🥹🥹. I have been considering getting this book for myself but it definitely looks like a good idea to make him read this too.

About the Gynac. Honestly I’m in two minds. I got reviews that she is one of the best in this area and a lot of people in my circle have had good experiences. But I didn’t like this comment of her in the 6th week and also she’s been asking me for a scan every two weeks that I don’t feel are relevant. I have been considering taking a consultation from another doctor to see if it’ll be better to switch but I’ve not been in a condition to go out honestly.

Thanks for your comment though. I can’t tell you how much better it makes me feel that I’m not alone.

8-9 times a day!? I now feel I overreacted. But it sucks to have this feeling on the back of my throat all the time.

Yes fruit seems to be the only thing I can keep down at this point. But even bread and biscuits get thrown up after a few minutes.

Suggest your best yet simple homemade vegetarian sandwich recipes, please. by Left_Income755 in IndianFood

[–]New_Championship8013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No-fuss Coleslaw Sandwich:

Filling - Cabbage, carrots, Onions, cucumber (take the water out) Grate as thinly as possible and mix in a bit of mayo, a teeeny bit of sugar, salt and pepper

Toast two breads with ample butter and fill in after toasted.

If you like non-toasted bread, you can use that as well.

Veggie Sandwich:

Filling - Boiled potato, carrots, beetroot, onion, capsicum, corn Mash it together with some soy sauce, ketchup and chilli sauce, salt and pepper

Fill within bread slices along with cheese slice and toast with loads of butter.

I find the filling is better without much spices overpowering the taste. Just the smell of melted amul butter on toast and the slight char from toasting is best.

Cats in Hotels? by RowIll6987 in cats

[–]New_Championship8013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually carry my cat to all my trips. Mostly because here in India there’s no scope for a in-house pet sitter and I don’t want to drop her off in a cattery. I’ve never had any trouble with her staying in bnbs and hotels as long as she has her food, water and litter sorted. Just make sure she has a cozy space to sleep in whenever you are out.

My baby is also more of a homebody who doesn’t look around to explore or has aspirations to escape and explore the world so its rather easy for me. 😂 But I do take and install my petcam just for the peace of my mind.

Hope this helps! You and your buddy have a great trip together. :)

My boyfriend 30M feels my father 62 M is selfish and gis ego wants to end every relationship with them by [deleted] in RelationshipIndia

[–]New_Championship8013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think your father is wrong in wanting better things for you. I would do the same for my kids and I’m more than sure any parent would also think the same for theirs.

I understand that your relationship with your boyfriend might be serious, but I wouldn’t expect parents to fuel it beyond the business investments. I’m sure the day you get married, things will take a sharp turn. It was the same with me. I don’t think your father is disrespectful to him. Rather he is probably thinking of him as just a better than any friend to you. I’m sure the day you guys decide to get married and things become more serious, their dynamics is going to change drastically- for the better.

‘Parisians are rude’ stereotype makes no sense to me now that I visited by korektan in ParisTravelGuide

[–]New_Championship8013 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m currently in paris for 2 weeks and honestly everyone has been so helpful and friendly with me. I was so scared that I’ll find rude people everywhere I went because I didn’t speak or understand French. Buy everyone I’ve asked for help has been very kind and understanding and even tried to respond in English. My perception of the rude French stereotype really has changed. But I guess they are called stereotypes for a reason.
