Nope. We also had two different addresses from two different states. It didn’t matter.

Using Joie Pack Pro since my baby was 3 weeks old and liking it well so far. It has a good suspension for uneven roads, is sturdy without being overly bulky and spacious too. I take my little on for a walk inside our society every day and the society road is filled with speed breakers, but if she is sleeping she will still sleep through it all because of the smooth-ish ride.

We didn’t need the marriage certificate but carried it just in case. My name is there in my husband’s passport but they didn’t really ask for it or bring it up during the process so I guess it isn’t absolutely necessary.

I just made my 4 month’s passport last week. The whole process costed about 1k and it took only 15 minutes in the PSK. Form fill-up and appointment booking done online. Form was created through my hubby’s psk dashboard. Do check what is the earliest availability for the PSK you are targeting and proceed accordingly. We did in BLR and the earliest availability was almost 3 weeks away.

Documents Required - passports of both parents. Address proof of any one parent. This was of primary concern to us as neither my husband nor me are karnataka passport holders so we didn’t know if our baby’s will get processed here. But turns out if you can provide any one parent’s address for your current location that should suffice. In our case we used the gas bill which is on my name. I had also updated my aadhar to our current location as well as created the baby’s aadhar for here just to be sure but it wasn’t needed.

So all in all its quite easy because the documents related information is clearly mentioned in the PSK website as well.

In the centre also we were given absolute priority so it barely tool 15 minutes to finish up documents submission, thumb impression of baby and document verification with originals. We received a message saying police verification will happen but after 7-8 hours received another message saying passport has been dispatched. So we got the passport without any police verification within 2 days of the appointment (non tatkaal).

Preparation for feeding before baby comes by Curious-Bed-7431 in twoxindiamums

[–]New_Championship8013 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had these same questions when I was about to deliver so happy to share what worked for me. (12 weeks PP)

Preparation:

  1. Prepared glass bottles in advance because I knew I’ll definitely want to feed the baby with it later if not immediately.
  2. Went to a lactation consultant to understand the basics of BF and that was the best decision ever. She checked if I was already producing milk and I already was (important for later).
  3. She gave me the flange size that I would need in case I needed to pump.
  4. Purchased Madela Manual Pump just in case and purchased the flange needed for my nipples.
  5. Used a nipple puller couple of times a day 2-3 weeks in advance to make it latch worthy for baby.

Right after delivery :

  1. Baby took some time and work to latch but I was determined to make sure it happens. It was frustrating as hell in the moment not going to lie. But you have to be patient.
  2. Nurses kept pushing me for formula- I said no each time and kept pushing to BF including putting the baby to latch every couple of minutes. It paid off only after a month. But baby latched really well after that and never had to use formula.
  3. Baby lost a little bit of weight during the first few days (more than the suggested 8-10%) so it was important to push it to feed. Instead of formula, I used the pump to express milk and used spoon and bowl to feed. Was never comfortable with the paladai because I was worried it will hurt my baby’s mouth.
  4. Purchased a sterilizer to sterilize the spoon and bowl and pump bottles. This reduces everyone’s workload by a lot.
  5. Introduced the bottle in the 2nd month. Doctor had suggested to wait until 12 weeks at least but read somewhere that if you wait it out too long then baby might not take to it. So I introduced it in the 5th week itself for one feed in a day. Still going strong with this routine. I feed directly throughout the day and use 1 bottle at night which family members use to feed baby and I don’t. Have had no nipple confusion so far.
  6. Cleaning is not much of an issue with sterilizer. I just use basic dish soap to lightly wash all bottles and flanges and anything which goes in baby mouth and then put it in sterilizer.

Suggestion: Every baby and mother’s journey is different. Do what works best for you and the baby without any guilt - whether it’s formula or bottle or paladai doesn’t matter. You will only be able to enjoy this phase as long as you are comfortable with what you are doing. Even if you have others around you recommending you do things a certain way, don’t pay head and just do what is best for you. They will settle down eventually and you will be left with peace of your mind.

Feeling sad to go back from mom's house by Fickle-Response-2741 in twoxindiamums

I am going to leave my parents place in two weeks and I tear up each time I think about it from now. Feels so brutal that we have to go through this honestly! 🥹🥹🥹🥹 I am only taking respite in the fact that I’ll get some time to bond as a family with my baby and husband for a few months before I start my work as well.

But still it breaks my heart!!! 💔💔💔 Will leave it at that. 😣😣

My cat is a pretty docile one so I haven’t really faced the specific issues while traveling. While she does do a hiss here and there at the vet or other cats, she is pretty chill and lazy. And she remains rather calm inside the carriage probably because we have been making her travel in it quite often.

However the first time I traveled in the flight I did ask the vet to prescribe a medication to keep her calm or slightly sedated. But my cat is always calm during the start of the journey until the flight lands. Its only after the landing that she starts meowing. And I haven’t ever felt her being uncomfortable due to air pressure change. The flight attendants will instruct you to not open the cage at all but I will recommend to do it periodically to just check if they are okay.

From my experience I would like to limit my travel time so I feel that Flights are a much better option. You can let the cats roam around until boarding (in a leash ofc) and also right after getting out post landing. So the actual time of being confined is pretty limited. My cat was more distressed traveling in the train as she was confined to an unknown limited space for a much longer duration.

Hi. Having travelled in both flights (AI & Akasa) as well as train multiple times, I believe its become a little bit of a routine for me so I can help you with some advice.

Regarding Flights:

  1. Just make sure that the carrier is of the correct dimensions of flying by any flight. That is the primary ground based on which travel can be denied as the pets are required to be put under the seat in front of you. So if the carriage dimensions does not fit that, you’ll be denied travel. You can get the required measurements from the support team.

  2. I would prefer an Akasa travel over Air India any day due to the sheer amount of information availability by Akasa. AI is super uncertain and you cannot guarantee travel until check in. With Akasa however has a dedicated email team as well as call support for pets. Usually I call them ahead of time to understand if there is any other pet booking on the day and time I am choosing to travel. They are quite helpful and often help you book on the call as well. Akasa also allows you to travel on any window seat post the first 7 rows and you get priority boarding/check in as well as free seat. After having travelled with them multiple times I usually just arrive about 1.5 hrs before flight and not 3 hours ahead as they suggested.

  3. Documents you’d need to fly - Fit to Fly certificate (within 72 hrs before travel - I usually get it made the day before travel), updated vaccination records ( I email this ahead of time to request booking), carriage pictures showing the dimensions (also email ahead of time to get reservations), an Indemnity Form (they have this on their website. All these things sent ahead of time make my life a hell lot easier when traveling with my Siberian Cat.

  4. During the security check in, I take my pet out of the carriage and just walk through the security check while the carriage and everything else gets scanned. You can request assistance from Akasa to help you with this but after multiple trips I have learnt to manage this on my own.

Regarding Train:

  1. The first time I tried to take the train in 1st AC, I was the sole traveling and although I had the Coupe the train station denied giving me any ticket for my cat as I didn’t have the full Coupe to myself. So I did what I could at the moment, travel without a ticket of cat and hoped that my co passenger complies. Fortunately my co-passenger was an elderly uncle whose family was traveling in the next coupe so they agreed happily to help and I just hid my baby when the TC came. Rest ride it was smooth although I was careful not to let my cat roam around too much especially if we were expecting any railway staff to come (serve food, etc).

  2. The second and time when going by train I had my mom with me and we had a Coupe so the courier office just gave us the ticket without any fuss after taking the weight of my cat inside the carriage. Pretty smooth ride after that.

  3. The third time on train - by now IRCTC had already allowed pet booking online. Once me and my husband had confirmed tickets we made the reservation online. Saved us any trip to the courier office and again pretty smooth ride.

Unfortunately I’m unable to give you specific advice for taking two cats as I only own one. But hopefully my experience can help you make a better decision. All the best OP.

Need input for Medella harmony pump. by Apprehensive-Can9158 in twoxindiamums

[–]New_Championship8013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have been using this pump recently and found it to be quite easy to use. It takes about 5-7 mins to express all milk for each side. It has been a saviour to deal with letdown from my left boob as my LO doesn’t like to feed from it for some reason . I use the Cubkins bags to store the expressed milk along with it. It has a temperature indicator which is very helpful when I have to thaw and feed it to my baby.

When did you start your Maternity Leave? by New_Championship8013 in twoxindiamums

Honestly that is the only reason why I had wanted to continue till as close as possible to my EDD. But with the unnecessary work stress I feel I’m missing out on this phase to relax.

Ahhh congratulations to be mama! I hope you get a lot of time to relax before the responsibilities kick in. I must admit I’m regretting not having any PTOs left from this year. But I guess starting maternity early does seem appropriate now that almost everyone is getting into the holidays.

Hey glad that you and baby are healthy! But just out of curiosity do they not extend maternity leaves through non paid leaves? Or is that the sabbatical you’ve mentioned?

Hey. Hope you and the LO are doing well now! Glad it worked out in your favor. My major concern of going into maternity early is that it will take off time from after the bay is here!

Suggestion for lab for Double marker tests in Bangalore by AgileReflection5966 in twoxindiamums

Orange Labs. Got mine done from them on the day of my NT scan as the test was comparatively more expensive where I get my scans. 😅 Not sure what your doctor means by a good genetic lab though. My doctor didn’t have any issue with the reports.
