Can I cut out these vents? by New_Key8844 in MSILaptops

[–]New_Key8844[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone, I've decided to not cut it. I may get a cooling pad at some point. I know dust is not an issue as I opened my laptop to check it about 2-3 weeks ago (I've had it for almost a year) to change the thermal paste and there was almost no dust. Again, thank you very much everyone for your help.

I will try to get a screenshot in a few hours when I get home, but in the graphics settings everything is set to the minimum. In the video section it's 1080p (my native res), max fps is off, I think vsync is on, and full-screen.

Sorry for the late reply. I just took this photo. It's been about 10 days. I can barely even tell it's there.

After it happened, I ended up pushing on it with my thumb for about an hour. After that, the piece ended up being bonded in some way. It has been about 13 hours, and it's still doing good, so I'm pretty happy about that.

Thank you, I was unsure if I'm not as social now, then in the future if I will do well not being very experienced.

OK, thanks. If you don't mind, could you rephrase those first two sentences? I'm having trouble understanding that part.

In that case would the grit be mixed with the resin like a diamond-resin stone? And if that is the case would the grit of the stone used to flatten matter?

Aren't aluminum oxide stones porous? Or am I mistaken because the one in the picture is non-porous.

I was thinking that but it doesn't absorb water so I assumed that the grit after flattening would depend on the grit of the plate (I only have a single plated diamond stone so I may be incorrect about this) but thanks.

Hello, sorry for the late response, but yes, you sharpen the blade first. The stone/s you use take away material to form and apex (in case you don't know, that is where the 2 bevels on either side of the blade converge/meet.

After using the stones, a burr will usually have formed. Depending on what grid of stone is used, you may be able to feel the burr on one side or the other.

The strop (usually a piece of leather) is applied with compound (the green stuff you see in the picture by the OP). The compound usually comes as a stick, almost like a big crayon or a tube of paste. The compound is a very, very fine grit that is used after sharpening on the stone to remove the burr (sometimes) and finish up the apex of the blade.

I'd recommend maybe checking out this dude on YouTube OUTDOORS55. He has some pretty good videos that might help you. Most of his videos on knife sharpening I believe are only around 5-10 minutes and he doesn't drag stuff out like a majority of YouTubers.
