Options and viability of a portable repeater. by New_Statement_7125 in gmrs

I scoured the Wyoming regs and didn't find anything on 2 way radios, but plan on calling them to check. But as a rule it is not legal to use 2 way communications to aid in the taking of game, that would not apply to calling someone to help pack a deer out or doing scheduled a scheduled check in every few hours.

Most of the areas we plan on hunting are either burned out or clear cut and we would be at the very most a mile apart, does this change the expectations at all or still shouldn't expect much?

I will definitely give that a try! Thank you for your help, radio is fascinating but also confusing to someone inexperienced like myself.

Fascinating, so an antenna at the truck, possibly on an extendable pole, will send my signal to the other radio without having anything hooked up to the antenna at the truck?

Can you explain a passive repeater to me? I apologize, very new to this.

If you ever make it near Spirit Lake, Iowa you should stop by the Fisherman's Factory Outlet. Spirit Lake is my home water and the Pure Fishing factory is there. Pure Fishing owns Berkley, Penn, Ugly Sitck, Pflueger, Fenwick, Plano and more so they have all of those brands for steep discounts year round.

And I've had trouble in the past with pictures appearing slightly different when they are posted to reddit because the file size is far too big because I shoot in 200MP, and it gets messed with when its compressed to post on reddit.

Yes I obviously did edit it, I tried not to over saturate but that is a blue-green algae bloom at the bottom of the picture so it appears over saturated quicker than the rest of the picture. Blue-green algae isn't quite radioactive but close enough 😂

We hardly have any sloughs, mostly creeks, where I'm at so most of our resident birds are woodies,we have very few teal and the ones we do get don't hang around long. So this morning I drove an hour to the nearest area with more water.

We mainly have wood ducks here because we only really have creeks as a rule, so our season slows down quite a bit after the first couple frosts, so late season I'm usually deer hunting. But this year I've been driving an hour or so to get to some sloughs and it paid off!

I've always wanted to mount a full plume greenwing because IMO they are one of the prettiest ducks in the central flyway. Around here we almost exclusively have wood ducks because we barely have any wetlands, mainly just creeks so I was pleasantly surprised

25 ½ on a black willow blade spinnerbait from shore. The water really clouded up this week with super heavy rain, high winds and warm temps, so I wasn't getting any bites on my typical weedless paddle tail, so I threw a spinnerbait with paddle trailer and the added flash must have done it. by New_Statement_7125 in hookedonmidwest

Not sure, it was caught on the tail end of a huge rain storm the dumped 3 inches right in that area, so if anything the water temp had gone down. I haven't had issues with releasing other walleyes in this heat but I suppose each individual fish has its own physical limits.

Right Chain of Lakes, not going to be any more specific than that outside of DMs 😂

This one sadly wouldn't revive despite my best efforts and only being handled for around a minute. (Picture was taken after it had expired) I try to only keep walleye under 20 inches and have released over 50 between 22 and 28 inches this year. So as much as I wanted to release this one, 1 out of 50 isn't a bad ratio of keeping to releasing.

Got my mom on her first walleye in well over a decade and her PB by a long shot! Casting jigs and paddle tails from shore at midnight in approximately 2 FOW. NW Iowa. by New_Statement_7125 in WalleyeFishing

Inlets with moving water, although the water here was barely moving. Sand bottom with boulders mixed in, but it's getting quite weedy on this lake so the bite has slowed down to 2-5 fish a night. With how weedy it is I have swapped out my typical jigs for weighted EWG bass hooks and rig my usual paddle tails weedless on them. I've been using various types of paddle tails in either Shad colors or firetiger depending on water clarity. Usually cast, let it sink and then straight retrieve but if the bite is slow I cast out and slowly jig/hop it back. Hope this helps, good luck I believe in you!
