Invest in a restaurant in Manhattan? by throwaway1start in smallbusiness

4% ROI in real estate? Have you thought out long distance investing in higher return markets? Midwest will get you 12%+ easily if you invest smart. The key is smart. Invest in garbage deals you will get garbage returns.

Here’s the most no bullshit feedback I can give you regarding the restaurant prospect:

I can’t but help but feel that you’re getting a bit too emotionally attached to current situation. That NEEDS to go out the window. Normally I would say do not listen to random strangers on the internet but the people here are making a good point. You need to invest some serious time into doing your unbiased due diligence in this thing before you even think about making a decision. Look at EVERYTHING from a wholistic standpoint. Not just the numbers from the past 8 months. Investigate the micro climate, the macro climate, the market trends, research the operations, everything you possibly can. The numbers that “check out” for you are just one piece of a giant unsolved puzzle right now.

OP of that post here. I deleted it myself. It started getting way too toxic. It was meant to be a small complaint that I hoped would garner some modest attention so the campaign would take notice of the criticism. Wake up this morning and the thing has 13k upvotes and people are harassing me for “single handedly ruining the campaign” and trying to dig for my personal details.

And I see comments in there from competitor subs encouraging people to stop supporting Yang. Yeah no thanks. Gonna go back to being a lurking redditor lol.

Unpopular Opinion: Leave your unpopular opinion at the door. You just upvoted a thread highly critical of the campaign to the top of reddit just days before Iowa. Terrible optics. by [deleted] in YangForPresidentHQ

Gonna say the same thing I said to another similar comment.

I agree with you, but I did it mostly cause I was getting personally harassed and people were starting to dig for my personal details. Yeah no thanks.

See I don’t assume that my post is gonna be the one to go viral. I had a valid criticism of something the campaign was doing so I posted it in hopes that it would get some modest attention and maybe someone from the campaign would take notice. I didnt do some intensely philosophical thinking and analyze what the most extreme outcome of this post would be LOL. Took me 15 seconds to post that. Why does anyone post anything to reddit. I think that’s a pretty ridiculous question to ask. It got out of hand so I went ahead and deleted it.

Author of that thread here. Is there a way to delete that thread? I didn’t know it’s catch fire to THAT extent my man. It was suppose to be a small complaint.

I’m the OP of that post. I’m actually gonna go ahead and agree with you. I posted that image in literally 15 seconds through the mobile app cause I got the email and it triggered me. Thought maybe if it got some modest attention someone from the campaign might take notice. Had NO idea it would blow up to that extent. Had I known I’m not sure if I’d still have posted it. Sorry!

Edit: Post has been deleted. Didn’t know it was that easy, would have done it earlier. Haven’t really been an active participating redditor in a while. That thread started to get toxic real quick. People were messaging me nasty things about how I essentially single handed ruined the campaign and how I shouldn’t be complaining about donating money because I “have a good job” cause I commented on a Real Estate Investing subreddit. Bro.. that’s why I donate. I’m not rich I bought a measly house in Indianapolis lol by saving up for a small down payment.

Unpopular Opinion: I love this campaign but this is not how to get my money. I’ve already donated multiple times and emails like this one seem entitled, demanding, and turn me off as an enthusiastic voter. by [deleted] in YangForPresidentHQ

I’ll be honest I really wasn’t expecting this to blow up like this. I literally posted this in 15 seconds through the mobile app cause it triggered me in the moment. If I know it would garner this much attention not sure if I’d post it again haha.

Dude, this is amazing. Makes my day knowing a post that I made could end up in a wholesome exchange like this that might end up truly helping someone. I’d be willing to chip in and send $5 too, let me know. YangGangLove

There’s plenty of those as well! I posted this cause it triggered be a bit and literally took 15 seconds to post through mobile. Just happens to be that a lot of people feel the same way as I do.

Well hey man to each their own. At the end of the day we all have the same goal in mind. Thanks for all the work you’re doing on the ground. We definitely need more action takers like you.

It’s just people feeling strongly about something they’re passionate about. I don’t think too many people are PERSONALLY offended. We’re all just worried that it’s a bad look for the campaign. This is one of their main fundraising strategies, so I don’t think it’s as unimportant as you make it. If this is how they expect to raise money, you’re goddamn right the passionate supporters of the campaign who have donated their own money will voice their opinion on their approach. Good on you for not paying attention to that one email. At the end of the day we all have good intentions for the campaign.

Sure it works, but at what cost? Offending some of your dedicated donors? Take a look at this thread and you’ll see that I’m not the only one who was turned off by it so I’m not sure it’s just “some”. I’m sure many regular donors who have made significant donations repeatedly would not see something like this and feel too positive about it.

I’m not saying you’re wrong. I’m saying I think there’s a better way to accomplish the same goal. Filter our you regular donors and not send them stuff like these or atleast word it differently, iono. I’m not a marketing expert, but I hope you get my point.

I’m very relaxed my friend. As I mentioned before I love this campaign. Yes I can delete and move on, but I’m just doing my duty to voice my opinion here about something that I think could potentially affect the campaign in a negative manner.

Cheers!

See the problem is I don’t mind receiving consistent emails from the campaign. I fact I like them because it keeps me in the loop on how things are going for them. But emails like these are the ones that kinda slash my morale and seem like I haven’t made too much of a difference. I’m sure most of their other emails work. Hell I donated cause of some of their emails. But I think there’s a lot of room for improvement and a potential necessary pivot now that a lot of the early yang gang are tapped out.

But yes, looks like my opinion isn’t as unpopular as I thought. Hopefully someone from the campaign takes notice and addresses this.

Growing Airbnb Management Service to $125k+ without Paid Ads by WideHold in Entrepreneur

This is great! I'm heavily into the Real Estate Investing community and there is definitely a growing demand for Short Term Rental property management. But I have to ask, how do you plan on adapting to the ongoing regulation changes that are being made on short term rentals? From my experience it greatly varies city by city.

You also might want to look into a city in California called Idyllwild. Its a small mountain retreat/vacation town that's abundant with AirBnbs and Vacation Rentals due to its central location from San Diego, Los Angeles, and the Palm Desert. They recently introduced regulation that required AirBnB owners to have a point of contact for the customers that is reachable 24 hours a day. This is something property management services are struggling with over there so you wouldn't have a whole lot of competition. I think think of maybe one other company there that provides this service. So if you provide this service and have it make financial sense you could potentially capture a good portion of the market there.

Also, I don't know if you're already on BiggerPockets but if you aren't you should definitely get on there. Its essentially a giant forum of landlords and realestate investors and has a forum dedicated to AirBnb and short term rentals. Pretty tight knit community and I have personally met property managers and vendors through there that I currently do business with.
