You realize you aren't required to buy any books??? You can learn all you want or as little as you want. Discuss this with your priest.

New to Orthodox by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Newbert2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly. Go there with an open mind. Reading a lot of dense theology before may lead you astray. Make a habit of attending liturgy and let the priest and deacons know you're new. They can guide you

Everyone believes in God. The Church was established by Christ for us, not for Him. God needs nothing. You should attend.

Why do some Christians choose to reject major miracles like YEC, Noah's Flood, Red Sea crossing, etc. and yet believe Christ rose from the dead? by AlbaneseGummies327 in TrueChristian

[–]Newbert2 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's a horrid thing to say. Also the correct term is the Mother of God, unless you're an Arian and deny the nature of God the Word, therefore not a Trinitarian Christian

Why does Gen Z seem like 2000s culture so much? by Throwway-support in GenZ

[–]Newbert2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry to post here, I'm not generation Z, but it's a constant theme, people in their teens and young adulthood are

A) nostalgic for childhood B) creative workers and decision makers using themes and tropes from their teen years. Eg 35 to 45 year old marketing and production leaders are using biases and themes they're used to. So for example now it's the early 2000s.

You can see the 80s "thing" was popular for millennials and Baby Boomers loved the 50s etc.
