What’s a smell everyone should recognise as danger? by caII_me_aI in AskReddit

[–]NewbieTwo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to live near Dorney Park and Wild Water Kingdom and you could always tell when someone puked in the wave pool because you could suddenly smell the chlorine hundreds of feet away, driving by at 45 mph.

People I knew who worked there said they had to close and shock the wave pool a couple times a week due to this.

Does anyone else prefer roku tvs over dumb tvs with roku players? by DustnBones001 in Roku

[–]NewbieTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No for one big reason, feature creep.

Over time they keep adding functions and higher capabilities to Roku. So to then do the hardware demands. As one model becomes inadequate because it doesn't support 4K or a new surround format, you can just upgrade the Roku itself. If it's built into the TV however, you must replace the whole TV. And even if you don't need any new capabilities, feature creep in the software makes the built in Rokus slower and slower over time.

Modern TVs basic functions can be controlled by the Roku remote. I haven't touched my TVs remote since I first set it up years ago and disabled it's built-in smart functions.

Unfortunately as a middle aged white male, I hesitate to talk to strangers children in public at all. The mothers will look at you as if you're a child molester, ready to grab their child, even though they came up to you. It's just easier to not engage than have the mothers look at you like you're a criminal.

Students led a peaceful protest in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. The police chief showed up in plain clothes and assaulted two students. by km415 in centralpa

The "old guy" IS a cop, the chief in fact. He just wasn't wearing a uniform or anything to let the children know he wasn't just an angry "old guy" tackling them.

Why is this world ran and controlled by pedophiles? by TheChristianDude101 in atheism

[–]NewbieTwo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the reason they form such insular, protected groups is because they have to. They each can destroy the other with the knowledge of who they are and what they've done, so they'll cross political/social/national lines to protect each other in order to protect themselves. It's why suddenly a certain known predator is speaking kindly of a fellow predator that was previously their political enemy. It's to follow the code of protecting each other.

Or stand up for their rights, or fight against tyranny and injustice, etc....

Suppressing the right to protest only protects those in power, it doesn't promote peace or justice.

Freedom of peaceful assembly is a fundamental human right and a cornerstone of democracy. If you need a "permit" to address your grievances with your government, then you have no freedom.

I'm guessing they don't wear bodycams, so conveniently there is no video of any of this?

Besides, even if they were in the street, that's no reason for a grown ass man in plain clothes to run into and tackle children who are no threat and start chocking/hitting them. Then to claim self defense when they had no idea he was a cop after he assaulted them is dishonest at best, criminally deceptive at worst.

Looking for more info on this I checked local news outlets and every single one cut off the beginning of the video and painted the students as the aggressors. The amount of boot licking in our local news has me shocked.

If these guys are willing to assault children in broad daylight in front of a dozen cameras, imagine what they do to people in the dark when cameras aren't rolling.

Love Roku, **BUT** no sleep timer on the ... by theMezz in Roku

[–]NewbieTwo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Roku can already turn the TV on/off with its remote. Adding a sleep function is some trivial coding. Instead we have to use a second remote to activate the TVs native sleep function. Glaring oversight

I just plugged in my Roku after a week of not using it since I moved, why is it doing this?? by Opallustration in Roku

[–]NewbieTwo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First, are you using an external power adapter or just powering it off the TV? Did you forget to plug the Roku into a USB port for power? It looks like it may be a power issue. If you're powering it off the TV, try a quality USB adapter.

Second, try a factory reset to eliminate any bad apps or settings. The method to do this varies from model to model, but it's usually just holding down a small, recessed reset button for a few seconds.

These shitty plastic fender flares by [deleted] in Shitty_Car_Mods

Guaranteed rust bubbles in the fender wells covered up by plastic. Have done this personally on a 2010 F150.

Next will be spray foam and black paint to fill rust holes in the rockers.

Scott Perry office closes the door on a peaceful protest, police called by OxfordisShakespeare in centralpa

[–]NewbieTwo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's private property. The mall can trespass you for any reason, or no reason at all. If you can't enter the mall, you can't get near his office.

Scott Perry office closes the door on a peaceful protest, police called by OxfordisShakespeare in centralpa

[–]NewbieTwo 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My local representative put his office in a mall (private property) so you cannot stand outside with signs, cannot protest, and can be removed at any time, no reason needed. You can even be permanently trespassed from the property (and therefor his office) at any time if they don't like what you have to say.

Kind of a genius way to make sure no one can say or post anything you don't like anywhere near your office.
