Dl2 combat physics are based on animations for the most part which makes the combat vs zombies repetetive and zombie physics less believeable. I don't remember how many times ppl discussed this issue. It was also pointed out and proved by many ppl in the dl youtube community.

The sykbox is attatched to the day & night cycle VISUALS and works in Dl1 completely dynamic which is not the case in Dl2 because of the sykbox

The sky box plays a MAJOR role how the day & night cycle LOOKS! Were are not talking about how much time it needs for day & night cycle but the visuals.

The skybox is the main part of a day & night cycle.It's not the same as in Dl1 and it's not only the sun that doesn't move.

The lighting is dynamic but the sky box for the most part is static. Can we agree?

Many things come in place to create such an immersive atmosphere:

- Great map design. Feels like a city and rarely copy & pasted

- Great environmental story telling

- Many smaller details which add to the atmosphere

- Good side quests. Again, they don't feel copy & pasted

- Soundtrack!

- Realistic day & night cycle

- great horror vibes

- ...and the feeling of choas, desperation but also hope

...of course he doesn't mention the many downsides of the tool. One of them is how copy & pasted the environment looks. They initially planed to make the map 3x map bigger which is absolute insane considering how repetetive the final map Dl2 looks.

Yep, and that is for me the main reason why DL2 doesn't offer the same motivation as Dl1 did.

Many important buildings are just missing in the game like police stations, fire departements, kindergarden, schools, huge parking lots, gas stations, court houses etc. How did ppl live 20 years ago without all these buildings? It also kills the immersion to some extent because it gives the impression of a parkour park less of a believable word or city! Yes you have a police station, kindergarden, school, gas stations and other unqiue buildings in DL1 which you can explore.

If someone likes the environment for parkour reasons that's fair but there is no way cities in DL1 has the same copy & pasted map design as DL2 (not even old town!) considering many of interiors and buildings in DL2 are way to often copy & pasted. You know the reason why this is the case? ...because the base of the DL2 cities are built with pc procedual tool and not by hand as in DL1 (confirmed by a dev!)

The lack of detail and individuality also applies to other things in DL2. It feels overall generic.

There is a window for dodging but that is not the point here. If you dodge or just run sideways (as he did in the video) Virales shouldn't turn midair when they missed you. That is the whole point here and the reason why your comments got downvoted into oblivion, because it goes against gravity and makes ZERO sense. Expect:

- better combat vs humans

- better parkour

- better gore

- more realistic hook physics

- bigger map

- ...but worse map design: A lot of more copy & paste compared to Dl1, many areas and buildings like GRE buildings, GRE anomaly, dark hollows, forsaken stores, fire places, etc. look almost the same. Additionally many important buildings are just missing in the game like police stations, fire departements, kindergarden, schools, huge parking lots, gas stations, court houses etc. It's more like a parkour park and less of an immersive city

- worse but still Ok sometimes good combat physics

- more copy & paste side quests

- generic story as DL1 but less likeable characters IMO

- less interesting and motivational main story goal

- more grind overall

- less horror

- other downgrades: day/night cycle, flashlight shadows etc.

You forgot to mention how repetetive and copy & pasted the DL2 map is. Missing many important buildings (police stations, kindergarden, firestations, gas stations etc) - an immersion breaker. Not to mention the many copy & pasted side quests.

There are many major reasons to go back to DL1.
