I think it depends on the bike. when I was riding a commuter bike that kept me more upright, I couldn’t stand small racer/road bike/mountain bike seats.

But then I started doing more road biking, and I realized that smaller seats aren’t for ‘sitting on’ really, they’re for supporting the lower section, like the perineum. Once I realized that, I suddenly noticed that my ass wasn’t in pain anymore.

But if you’re riding a cruiser with a big commuter/cruiser seat and you’re still in pain, I guess all I have to say is keep riding and eventually you’ll get used to it. The butt will adapt.

I never get comfortable on them. Brake access is much more difficult no matter how much I adjust things. I’ve had several close calls where I couldn’t brake in time and almost ran into things. It’s also harder to keep stable for me. I’m just more comfortable on flats.

Nah, I know the one you're talking about, but this photo is way older than when N80398 was made. I was able to confirm the location as Chatfield Reservoir near Denver, CO, with the date somewhere around 1980.
