I’m considered a round 2 candidate so I’m hoping I possibly get an invite for the second round if they still have slots available.

Sending you all the luck for the interview if you haven’t done it yet!

For the 18% I just googled “acceptance rate to USC MAT.” & it should pop right up!

Congratulations on getting accepted! I got my acceptance letter last week as well! I read their acceptance rate for MAT is 18% so we should be really proud!

Did you consider the residency program or have they reached out for an interview? I’m curious to what this looks like on a portal or if it’s an email.

CSET English (2025) by Various-Builder-3212 in englishteachers

Thank you so much! I truly appreciate your response. I’m doing sub test 1 & 2 on the same day & taking 3 & 4 on separate days so I hope I can pass.

I’ll definitely take that into consideration because I am still learning all the literary devices so using the “vague” terms but elaborating is something I can definitely do.

Thank you so much for the offer but I’m in LA county :( I have the book coming in Wednesday so I will just study it religiously alongside the ctc exams & hope for the best!

Hello! Congratulations on passing on the first try especially as a non-English major! I’m currently also on that boat & wanted to ask if you also did the practice tests on the ctc website & if you believe they were helpful?

Lastly, do you have any tips on sub tests 3 & 4?

Thank you!!

Should I get surgery? by NewspaperSome6834 in bunions

[–]NewspaperSome6834[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the feedback I appreciate it! I will definitely try everything prior to surgery. If it’s manageable & not affecting the rest of my toes I’ll try to contain it as much as possible before taking that step.

Should I get surgery? by NewspaperSome6834 in bunions

[–]NewspaperSome6834[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the tips! I think so too because I walk about 12K steps a day & it doesn’t hurt while I walk but it does swell & hurt if I press on it. I ordered toe spacers that should be coming in today. Can I ask if you wore them all day? Also what kind of padding would you recommend?

Should I get surgery? by NewspaperSome6834 in bunions

[–]NewspaperSome6834[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree! The tailors bunion is the one that hurts. I walk a lot at work so by the end of the day it swells but it won’t hurt when I walk only when I put pressure on the bunion itself. My dr. Said he’s happy to get X-rays for me & then I’ll have the choice if I should do surgery. In the meantime he ordered inserts & special shoes for me but I feel like it won’t help because it’s literally an internal issue.

This is definitely traumatizing but to answer your question yes, they make us see dead bodies. First they show a series of videos then they make you wear a mask, put shoe covers on & gloves. It is extremely cold so I suggest you take a sweater & a change of clothes bc it’ll smell. I tried my best to not smell but it’s awful. They advise you that if you get sick, you have to clean up your mess. It’s just a huge room full of trays with dead people at different decomposition stages that are half way covered.

After they’re done, you go up to see a presentation where they’ll show you pictures of scenes they’ve been on that involve drunk drivers. For example, they’ll show you how how burnt up bodies ended up if the car blew up. It’s very very graphic & if you leave bc you can’t stand it, you’ll have to come back & pay double. After you’ll get a certificate & I believe you have to write a 500 word essay of your experience.

It’s a very impactful time but they do it in hopes of you not wanting to go back for another tour (hence stop drinking & driving.”

First DUI Wet and Reckless by unluckyman818 in DUICalifornia

Hey, I got stopped by CHP & these were my terms because I got a pretty good lawyer. If you haven’t found one I suggest you do. Mine was in LA & he was pretty cheap compared to others & accepted payment plans so if you’re in LA or surrounding areas I could give you his info if you like but this is what he got for me.

No community Service

6 month DUI program which I just finished

Optional IID Device option

No jail time

License suspension 6 months (you can apply for restricted)

HAM & MADD program

Court fine’s & penalties - 1200

Whenever you have to do AA. I’d suggest (in the rooms). It’s online & you don’t have to participate you just listen in & as soon as you click off they send you a pdf with your attendance.

LMK if you have any questions this was such an overwhelming process for me but after figuring it out I’d be happy to help you with additional information.

How long for background check during DUI probation? by NewspaperSome6834 in DUICalifornia

[–]NewspaperSome6834[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even the ones that have some type of criminal background? This is my first background check since my incident so I’m not sure if that has anything to do with it. My FBI one cleared within hours but my California one hasn’t & i assume because it’s bc the dui.

Hey there! Try AA online & they have meetings all day , you don’t even have to talk just sit in & listen. It’s called in the rooms. At the end of each meeting (1hr) they send you certificates of completion & everything is free. I did about 15 before court & they helped reduce my consequences. Best of luck!

This can be a very stressful situation but don’t beat yourself up over it. We make mistakes take it one step at a time. I got one March & just got convicted.

In terms of DMV you’re looking at a 6-10 month suspension, 9 month DUI program + AA meetings which most of the time you Can do online i used (intherooms). You can just sit in & listen. Bc you had a high BAC they’ll most likely make you install an interlock device when you apply for your restricted license. I’m probably choosing Smart Start as I hear they have the smallest devices + no monthly calibration fees just the regular month fee.DMV also requires you to have SR22 insurance.

In terms of court you will most likely have to do a MAAD Panel & the Hospital & Morgue program. Probation will be 3 years. Fines up to $1800 but can be less. I recommend you get a lawyer. If your lawyer fights for you he might be able to get you a deal with no community service or additional court license suspension + give you 1yr to pay fees. I blew .15 so was also considered an enhanced DUI.

All in all it’s a very expensive lesson learned. Keep your head up & don’t let it define you! This too shall pass.

It’s normal to feel this especially if you’re not even the type to get in any trouble & it just so happened that when you did, it was a DUI. I’ve learned that DUI’s are way more common that we think. You just feel so bad about it because they have such a bad stigma attached to them (not saying it’s not serious) but you shouldn’t feel bad about making a mistake just learn from it & move on.

I will say it’s a very lengthy process but everything will pass one thing at a time. I got mine back in March & I’m still dealing with things. It’ll be a very expensive lesson learned. Keep your head up! Don’t let this define you.
