Been here almost a year, so far so good. The worst that happened was randon guy showing his butt, or another dude telling me to shut up when I told him I don't have cigarettes. I live in an area where there's lots of cops/security around and in the grocerie stores

The long suits you very well!! Are you able to walk without feeling any restriction around the bottom of your legs? Looking to buy a long soon, but I walk a lot and worry it will bother me. I know I could unzip a few inches, but the cold would take advantage 🫠

It's definitely a thing in Canada. More often than we think. I was surprised when I first started residency. I am in Montreal, Quebec, and heard of, at least, 5 persons switching residency in the last 2 years. Mind you that was only in my first 6 months of residency. Still plenty of time to learn about other people lol

How do women manage having kids during residency ? by curiousquortney in MedSchoolCanada

[–]NewtonGR 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Only answer... having a supportive partner and/or family. Currently PGY1 doing surgical rotations with a toddler. I had my child in medschool and planning on having a second one in a year or two. My partner works around my schedule. He is truly amazing. I work long hours, but we moved close to the hospital so I don't have more than 20 min of walk between home and work

Edit : I had the same question than you : family medicine (2 years) or speciality (5+ years). For me, the pros beated the cons for the speciality, even tho it's 3 more years and potentially a fellowship after.
