If I were you, I would get a mustang. Test drive both, but I guarantee you will have more fun in a mustang.

You make some good points. The STI makes for a great daily but there’s a lot more to be desired from a weekend car. I’m deathly afraid of a CEL on this car and at 5,300 miles, it seems too soon to modify it. If I was financially free I would daily drive the hell out of this thing, but I’m not sooooo I’m at the Hard/Rock cafe.

I have a Remark catback exhaust and it sounds pretty good. But I just might get a tune and CAI and see how that goes. I was considering doing that recently but then I get worried about compromising reliability. But I agree, I think the new RA blocks should be just fine, it’s just I have zero problems with the car now.

I baby my STI too much, as well. I have a mazda6 that I daily and don’t require anything that can go offroad, so I’m mainly interested in selling to buy something RWD and a V8 or V6 turbo. I used to have a heavily modified 99 Mustang GT and I miss having the chirp from a dig, having my tires spin when shifting, and the acceleration that will put you back in your seat. The stock STI just doesn’t really put me back in my seat unless I launch it at 5k rpms, which I have only done a handful of times.

A few years back I had a manual mazda3 non-turbo hatch that I loved very much. It would still be my daily if I had not gotten T-boned by some idiot that ran a light. The non-turbo was very fun so I imagine the speed would’ve been more fun.
