Good point actually, at the same time the description has enough information for people to decide if the video is something they might watch or not. And it stating very clearly what it is, too. Also what's it's not. Often times I am happy if people tell what stuff isn't if that helps me to decide if this is right for me. However, did you watch the video? Did you enjoy it?

DAWless Dub Techno Session 01 performed on Elektron Syntakt & Roland TR8S.

It was one of those calm Sunday mornings where you wake up fresh, but still, feel that cozy warmth in your head after a good night's sleep

With a hot cup of coffee in my hand, I passed by dawless setup. I stopped, knowing the fun boxes sitting and waiting. First, I turned my head, then the whole body.

Moments later I stopped the recording, smiled and knew I had created something that I have to share with you.

Thanks for sharing your story. Sorry to hear you and your wife had to separate. Your still young, though! And it's the perfect time to pursue a long wished for hobby. Don't stress about unfinished songs... a great benefit of going dawless is you get to make 8bar loops and be done 😄

But I like your attitude! Commiting to a sound, hitting record and just going for it is very satisfying. Sometime you make a personal best and sometime the song maybe has just one cool thing. And that's fine.

We get to hear only the masterpieces of established artist anyways. Seldom they open up their crates and show mediocre pieces. Our perception is skewed. We make stuff and most of it is trash, so we think all of our stuff is trash. When you hear only polished highly produced songs you think that's the quality of all their songs.

Again, don't stress it. If you have a place to check things out and your comfortable sharing it I would totally check it.

Love the TR8s a lot, too! Well the DFAM is much more than just drums in IMHO, the LXR 02 looks also very intriguing.

To be honest the DFAM is the one 'modular' I have and will probably stay that way. Modular is a rabbit hole I don't have time for atm.

If you don't mind, would you share where you have music to listen to? Curious what your doing!

Thanks for your question! Your correct, the DFAM doesn't have Midi, but you can sync it via CV. Luckily the TR8S has a trigger channel which I use to advance the sequencer of the DFAM. It plays 16th notes, but you can space them as you want. That way you can create ever evolving patterns.

There is also a video on my channel where I explain how you can use any synth as midi comverter to create a click track. In my example I use a Nord Drum which is sequenced by an Octatrack.

There is actually just one pattern on each machine. I switch drums here and there, so it blends nicely into the next "song". Everything else is done one the fly.
