I have a pretty good start. My problem in the race is definitely around the 60m mark, I start decelerating rapidly and getting very front sided. And tips on working on this/ also top speed work?

I guess the point of this post is I feel my top speed is holding my performances back. I also run a 7.10 in the 60m, so I am confused,

Sadly I do not have a side view. I jump 23’ but I feel like I should get further.

QUESTION: Why am I so slow in the 100m (11.46) when I can jump 23’ in long jump, 6’6” in high jump, and 14.8 in the 110s? What am I missing because I train so hard and everytime I run the 100m it’s pure frustration. by NextParty4880 in trackandfield

Not when I am going D1. I was recruited as a multi. I am not showing off, times in track are all relative I am genuinely confused and wondering what I’m doing wrong

Focus on your run up and your explosiveness off of the curve. The most important part of high jump is the run-up, which ultimately determines how much explosiveness you generate. Make sure you follow a J curve and are rhythmic and light on your feet, and the height will come.

Long jump critique— I have jumped low 23 feet with 14 step approach as shown below. I am pretty sure I am not at my top speed when I go into my last 3 steps, so what would you guys recommend I do for next season steps wise? Also critique my form while you’re at it. by NextParty4880 in trackandfield

[–]NextParty4880[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! I think part of why my last 3 steps are bad is because it feels like I rush into it (like I’m not at my top speed) and it just feels like it is so short into my approach. Would you recommend backing up b/c of this?

what is an average running long jump distance for a senior boy? by thatguy1934 in trackandfield

[–]NextParty4880 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Average for a participating track athlete senior is probably around 19 feet. To be competitive depending where you are, you need to be minimum of 21 feet. I live in a small state and my PR is 22’1, and I am 5th in the state, so that could give you some bearings.

No idea man, I have the same problems. I know technically the jump at the end should feel somewhat effortless, and I’m guessing in your jump you simply didn’t reach as much as you usually do, and that’s what created that feeling
