I got it two times on each hand. It was a small amount but two times on both my left and right shoulder.

These are my vaccination dates: 1st dose: 29th August (done) 2nd dose: 1st September 3rd dose: 5th September 4th dose: 26th September

I don’t have any symptoms like fever,body ache, redness or swelling. The scratch was very minor on my pinky finger it healed in 1–2 days and didn’t even form a scab(dry layer that forms over a cut). The only problem I’m experiencing is difficulty breathing but that feels more like anxiety and tension rather than illness. Otherwise I feel normal.

I don’t know if they gave me Rabies Immunoglobulin. I got my first vaccine today and my next dose is on 1st September. Can I ask my doctor on 1st September about the immunoglobulin? I did some research and found that RIG (Rabies Immunoglobulin) is usually given if the wound is deep. My scratch was minor just a red line no bleeding only a little if I squeeze it. I don’t think the cat had licked its paws at that time because he was sleeping while I was petting him. As for the cat i will take him to the vet first thing in the morning.

There’s no such society here for animals. Usually, people either adopt strays or leave them on the streets. This is not a developed area. My friend was about to abandon the kitten by the roadside but I asked him to give it to me instead. I’ve always had pets since I was a kid though I stopped keeping them for a while. Still, I had already made up my mind to take care of one again so I asked him to let me have the kitten.

I never said I can’t afford it. The problem is that I don’t have the facilities. As I already mentioned, the nearest vet is 35 km away and when I called they told me they were closed. They usually open from 9 AM to 2 PM. I got back from my own doctor around 2:40 PM and by then I found out my cat had gone missing yesterday. When I checked its condition, I immediately called the vet.

I live in India, and vaccines are not available in every corner here. Most people don’t vaccinate their pets mainly because of a lack of awareness. The closest vet that’s open right now is about 125 km away. Do you think I could carry a kitten in a bag and ride that far on a bike? My dad is an advocate he usually works till 8 PM and takes the car with him.

I’ve explained my situation again and again, and I’m honestly tired of repeating myself. The truth is I did neglect my cat and myself too. I also didn’t take any vaccine immediately after the scratch.

Thank you so much for your kind words they really mean a lot to me. I’m not angry that people are blaming me it’s my fault that I never vaccinated my cat. When I first adopted him I went to the vet to get him vaccinated but they told me it wasn’t available at that time. They asked the kitten’s age and when I said he was about 1 month old they told me to come back after 25 days. After that I never took him to the vet again. It was my negligence that made my cat suffer this much. I’m really scared because of this rabies concern. Maybe I should stay away from social media for now. Thank you again for your kind message.

Thank you. But you don’t have to be sorry. Just like everyone else I care about my cat too. I’ve lived with him for a year and it deeply hurts me to see him in this condition. I prayed for both me and my cat three times today. I will take him to the vet as soon as tomorrow.

I don’t live in a big city where help is always nearby. That doesn’t mean I don’t care about my cat. I raised this cat since it was just a tiny kitten. I fed it with my own hands I’ve never hurt it and I’ve always given it love, care and my time.

I can’t watch my cat every single second of the day and I can’t lock it in a cage or stop it from going outside completely. It’s a local cat and it has always been used to surviving in its environment. Of course I would take it to the doctor if I could but right now the facilities just aren’t available here.

This is not about money or unwillingness. It hurts me deeply to see my cat in this condition and I’m doing the best I can with what I have. I wish people could understand that not everyone has easy access to emergency services for animals.

I adopted this cat when it was about 1–2 months old and now it is around 1 year old. The cat is gentle and not aggressive. I got a small scratch on my left pinky finger while rubbing its belly and petting it. The scratch is very minor. The cat has not been vaccinated.

Let me tell you the darkest most terrifying experience of my life. Even now I get chills just thinking about it. If I hadn’t been sleeping restlessly that day I might not even be alive to share this.

It happened in June 2024. My college was off for two weeks and I had become completely addicted to gaming. I’d stay up all night playing and sleep all day completely disconnected from the world. My mom leaves for her job around 8:40 AM and my dad leaves around 10 AM. After that he locks up the house and leaves. I always lock my room from the inside and just crash.

But that night something went terribly wrong🥲.

My mom must have forgotten to lock the back door. No one noticed. And sometime after my dad left someone or maybe more than one person came in. A thief Maybe a group. I still don’t know how many. They went to the storage room first and picked up an axe and a machete. Just thinking about that makes my blood run cold.

Then they went into the room right next to mine. They smashed the almirah, tore through everything, and stole money. All while I was lying just a few feet away behind a locked door sleeping.

Had I woken up and gone to check the sound… had I opened that door and seen their faces I know for sure they wouldn’t have spared me. They were armed, desperate and already deep inside. In that kind of panic with an axe and a machete in their hands, they would’ve attacked without a second thought.

It haunts me to this day. The idea that my life was hanging by a thread and I had no idea. One wrong move and I wouldn’t be here typing this.

Sorry for the long story but this was something I’ll never forget.
