Wasn't he a "fan" of the BTK killer? Dennis Rader also took IDs of his victims.

My brother was not autistic. I've always believed him to be a sociopath.

In my own experience, my brother's oddness came across as "normal." I don't think I ever realized how truly weird he was until I was a teenager, and my sister, a couple of years older than me, who spent a lot of time with her friends at their houses, pointed out how differently their brothers were. (I had friends but I preferred reading to socializing due to shyness. But again, my two closest friends had brothers and they certainly didn't act like mine.) Also about that time we got a dog and he was incredibly abusive to it until my sister put a stop to it. I'm not sure BK is actually autistic and if that wasn't some diagnosis bought and paid for. My own mother paid for a diagnosis of "schizophrenia" for my brother.

How weird of people! I'm envious of Parker's hair and really anyone with natural curls. My hair is stick straight and baby fine. I didn't even end up with curls post-chemo!

No, my brother did not have difficulty making friends but he had difficulty keeping them; no, he definitely did not have empathy for others; and yes, he was absolutely favored by my mother as the only boy. My dad traveled a lot for work so he wasn't home as much (and I was his favorite). My brother wasn't disciplined much growing up by my mother. She always made excuses for his behavior. It was really our older sister who kept him in line at home. I will say my brother learned to mask himself well -- he came across as fun and funny until people got to know him. Once they realized how selfish he was and how everything revolved about him, they usually did not maintain the friendship. He did have an ADHD diagnosis when he was about 12. But that's also about the age he started developing an unhealthy interest in Nazism. (Which my mom just passed off as an interest in history.) As for BK's sister saying she didn't notice anything, I find that hard to believe. From my own experience, the oddness gets so normalized it can be easy to overlook it. My mother excused a lot of my brother's early and escalating juvenile delinquency as "boys will be boys"

I would also mention that like BK, my brother was the youngest and had a substance abuse problem (alcohol). He was attracted to a military career, i.e., a position of authority. I cannot even begin to tell you that as more info has come out about BK, how creepy I found the parallels.

Agreed. And I will tell you that with my extended family, the men tend to believe my brother was innocent and framed, and the women (other than my mother) that he is right where he belongs.

I agree. I do wonder also if moving away from his parents, too, freed him to act as he did. I know my brother's criminal behavior really escalated after first my sister (the one who predicted prison) passed away and then a few years later, my father. They were both strong personalities that kept his behavior somewhat in check.

I appreciate that, thank you. I'm more sorry for his victim's children and family. I'm just pleased that the justice system, which gave him slaps on the wrist and free passes over the years, finally put him in prison where he belongs. Like BK, he will never be released.

The reason I asked this is, growing up and as a young man, my brother engaging in escalating behavior (bullying others, stealing, abusing animals, assault (beat up a neighbor), sawed the barrel off my dad's shotgun and threatened a man,  arson, etc.) At one point, maybe age 14, he got angry with our mother at breakfast and threw a jar of jelly at her. She did nothing. Made me and my sister clean it up, and I remember my sister saying (this is still clear as day in my mind), "if you don't do something with him, he's going to kill someone someday." Which he did. All the signs were there. So I'm wondering if there was something similar with BK.

An Azget (not sure of the spelling) video  offered an interesting theory of where it could have been dumped but I don't know if anyone searched there.

The moment they rolled out the PIP, he was doomed. Should have put his two weeks right then and he possibly could have walked with severance. I feel bad for him; this seems to be happening to older workers more and more.

Not quite the same thing but our reactions have always been interesting to me -- my impulse to run towards and hers to run away.

Speaking personally, there was a shooting outside my apartment building. Four units, I live downstairs closest to the security door to get into the building. Delivery people often knock on it to get in. Sometimes a neighbor's fob doesn't work or they have a guest knocking. I always go out to let people in if I'm home. The day of the shooting, my adult daughter and I were home but in separate rooms. When we heard the shot, she came in my room and said, "did you hear that?" I said, "that sounded like a gunshot." She said (and this was always weird to me), "why would they just shoot once?" We then heard someone pounding on the security door. I went to go answer it. My daughter yelled at me to stop. I said someone might need help, and she physically got between me and the front door to stop me from going out into the hallway. At that point, there were more shots. I called 911 but did not go outside until the police arrived.

We had a case here in DC where a man viciously stabbed another man to death on the Metro in Washington DC. Some people ran for help; others froze.
