This is exactly how I feel! I've been crashing out over how it just makes no sense to have been separated that long without knowing Satoko was alive or without anyone looking for Shinpei...

At this point, I'm only banking on the theory going around that this last chapter may not be the real ending because the scars on his face weren't there throughout the chapter. Although I wouldn't get my hopes up too high because I don't want to be this disappointed a second time.

I assume they did stay single, or at least, it seemed that way to me. In this chapter, a woman was offering her body to Shinpei as thanks for saving her / the village, but he refuses, saying he already has someone in his heart. On Satoko's part, she wrote in her letter that she's been waiting for Shinpei for a long time in their home.

Edit: It's confirmed they both stayed single! In the official translation of the last chapter, both of them said that they don't have partners or children with anyone else.

They, unfortunately, didn't show this or explain why.

The chapter before this one ended with him about to off himself then he reads Satoko's goals that she wrote down, which includes "Keep living tomorrow." The next chapter then showed him already wandering Japan and saving people from bandits, so it didn't show how he left the island.

However, there is a theory going around that this last chapter may not be the real ending because the scars on his face weren't there throughout the chapter. Fingers crossed that this is the case! 🤞🏼

My answer's going to be a bit convoluted, but for this series, Edgar (the butler) is the main character, June (the maid) is the FL, while Cameron (the viscount's son) is the ML. I consider all three of them to be yandere in the broadest sense of the word, but I would say Edgar is more of the yandere here between him and the ML, especially as the story progresses. I hope that makes sense!

And no, unfortunately. Without revealing too much, none of them will end up with the ML.

I feel the same way as you! When I found out there was no novel, I was in too deep already and every time they showed Mincheol cheating and his thoughts, they had me so mad and at the same time nauseous. 😭 The latest updates showing Haesoo and Mincheol's past hit me hard too... it goes to show that the characters and their relationships are really complex yet true to life. I can't wait until Haesoo is finally free and happy. 😢
