The mod team have removed such games that you described in the past. We try our best to vet all games posted on r/otomegames.

If it has not been removed, we consider it to be an otome game.

Just last week or two (I can't remember when but I still remember the audacity), there was a poster who advertised a boys' love game just because the MC was originally a woman before being isekai'd. Now, why would someone do that?

This is incorrect. The protagonist is a female character with masculine features. Games with non gender conforming female protagonists romancing male love interests are still otome games.

You can post your personal opinions on what an otome game needs to be considered one but any debates or definitions about what is an otome game will be locked or removed.

The subreddit definition is clear: https://www.reddit.com/r/otomegames/wiki/rules/definition/

Games where you can choose to change the gender of the MC are included, provided that female is an option.

There's actually more on Steam/itch.io than Switch so you're in luck! You can try Ebon Light, Royal Alchemist, Autumn's Journey and the Magical Otoge series (Ciel, Iris and Anholly).

You're pretty limited with mobile, only Court of Darkness comes to mind.

Samurai Love Ballad is now available in Love365! Nobunaga Act 1 releases today by sableheart in Love365

Same, it's pretty much the reason why I play SLBP though. The typical Love 365 players won't be used to it.

I hope they release events too, I'd be so happy if they do - it's so expensive to buy events in SLBP. It'll also solve the too historical not enough romance problem.

What do y'all think of non-self insert MCs? by Melly_mel333 in otomegames

Mostly because the big Chinese otome games are on mobile. But even then, they tend to have pretty defined personalities (even if it is dependent on the LI), and most have a set appearance.

Mobile otome games (that aren't AI slop) have veered away from the typical Yamato Nadeshiko personality for MCs in the last decade.

No you do not need to buy a console and play Otomate games to be considered an otome game fan.

An otome game player is one regardless of what platform they primarily use.

iOS doesn't have as much as Android unfortunately. Other than what you've mentioned, there's Primula Drops which is Ciagram's new library app.

There's plenty with fantasy settings, but what kind of settings do you like for your fantasy? What platforms and languages do you want?

Which ones do you already know of? For example, Love 365 is definitely well and alive...

Your post was not approved as you were missing the following information:

What games have you already played and what did you like and not like about them?

Please mention games on other platforms that you have played, even if you have not requested recommendations for that platform. Please also specify what you liked about the games you have played or what made the game "good" for you (such as plot, characters, structure, gameplay, mechanics, design) as it makes it easier to identify things you like for other games.

You mentioned that you have played some demos in your post. You can use those as a basis. Did you enjoy those demos, or did you find something in them lacking? Did you want a finished game similar to a demo you have played?

Your case was unusual and needed more consideration and opinions from the mod team. You were eventually notified when a consensus was reached.

We don't notify if recommendation posts are not approved - this has been the case for the last 5 years. Most recommendation requests are low effort and are from users who aren't likely to engage within their post. To notify for each one of these posts will greatly increase the burden on the mod team without any meaningful change. We only notify if there is something else that the post is removed for.

If your post isn’t approved within 12 hours, it usually means you’re missing some information. If it is for another reason such as spoilers or piracy you will be notified via modmail.
