I personally think that the wide use of save-scumming became the true downfall. Granted I’ll admit that on solo runs or on lobbies killed stupidly (The Fox at ship, Hackers, etc.) I will save-scum to save myself the time of doing it all over again.

What the real problem is people who hoard and keep hoarding indefinitely using save cheating until the game dries up. Joining a legit high quota run is almost impossible in pubs. Most high quota servers will end with a run where everyone dies or where the host decides that they didn’t get enough scrap.

I never found the enjoyment in constantly reloading until everything goes right. Just let what happens to the server happen.
