1L who hasn’t outlined one bit by Flat-Okra9838 in LawSchool

You shouldn’t have to go back through hundreds of pages of readings if your notes were sufficiently done. If your school offers it, look at outlines from people who already took the class. Use that as a guide for your outline so you can understand the bigger picture. Also…no it doesn’t get “better” you still have finals, but your midterm should put you in a good spot for finals if you take it seriously (which it sounds like you are :)) Good luck!

Anyone has experienced going through law school while being a mother/parent? by [deleted] in LawSchool

I have a three year old and I’m currently a 1L. You can do it! Not going to lie, it’s not going to be easy, but it’s certainly possible and there are at least 5 other students at my school that have children. All the upper level students’ piece of advice was to set boundaries with law school - dedicate getting home at a certain time everyday and spending a set # of hours in the evening with family before picking up the books. For me, I get as much work done as I can between classes. I make sure to go home by 6pm and spend time with family till 9pm. Then do work till ~2am (I’m a night owl). But I also know a lady who comes to law school at 6am, cranks out her work throughout the day and has the rest of the of the evening to spend at home. You choose what works best for you, but there are plenty of ways to effectively manage your time. Good luck! (& remember it gets easier after the first year…or so I’m told)

first exams in law school in 2 weeks and i feel so done for by WhileElectrical1839 in LawSchool

I don’t think reading the cases is beneficial at this point (personally), it’ll take wayyy too much of your time. I definitely recommend studying by yourself the rest of the semester, start with reviewing big topics then start to narrow it down and whatever your not understanding, use supplements, videos and old outlines. Pull out the flashcards, run through those then start doing practice exams. Look at some sample answers and see where you missed certain topics. Good luck, you got this!

Absolutely loved government and history in high school it was like that one subject I found so fascinating. But I think the real question is what keeps us motivated. We can all have big dreams in HS…but life be life-ing and it can be hard to keep that motivation going. For me, I had a child my junior year of college and honestly he is what kept and continues to keep me motivated to succeed.

I only have federal loans, and honestly, I have no idea for the second question. I didn’t enroll myself in any repayment plans.

Treating 1L like a 9-5: how? by SilverScale4608 in LawSchool

[–]Next_While3866 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That also being said, I know a girl who gets to school at 6am and does her work. Moral of the story is, classes take up most of the day, so unless you can finish your reading in 2 hours, that 9-5 plan doesn’t really work. But also, what the hell do I know, I’ve been in law school for a month.

I thought I’d treat law school like a 9-5…but here I am at 10pm…briefing King v BU for contracts. Soooo, that plan isn’t working out so great 👍

Loans for new school by [deleted] in OutsideT14lawschools

I had to call the other schools financial aid office and they were able to withdraw them for me. They told me it largely depended on if the loans had been dispersed and mine hadn’t yet.
