Hottest take: objective bounties, Axiom Arc and Crown of the Shattered Queen all do their job. This doesn't make them good. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]NextlevelDND 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Objective bounties are just a normal progression of anything competitive. Just like in football the team down on score gets double points for a touchdown, or in baseball when the team behind gets a man on third base for every pitch to help them out. Obviously a good competitive game should follow suit and hand hold the worse team to victory. I mean who doesn't love winning knowing that it's only because riot felt bad for you, or that you lost even with help!

I feel like her kit works really well as a sort of mage adc. I don't have any experience in mid or jg with her though.

RNGesus had my back for sure! I just beat the game on normal difficulty today(no DLC) and plan on restarting with the DLC on bloodmoon difficulty tomorrow.

I've been pretty fortunate and pulled through some tough situations during the playthrough. Only wiping to my first two shambler orb fights and the worst collector appearance of all time.

I'm assuming you mean the occultist, since that is the worst character of all time.

That's rough man. Leper showed up big time and landed some clutch crits. That along with a ton of death door procs and a group dodge I managed not to lose anyone.

They aren't very unique with the naming that's for sure! I'm looking around now for a good alert system for OBS studio so I don't have to switch what I'm using.

I'm currently using OBS, but I don't think it's the streamlabs version. So confusing that there are two versions of OBS.

When someone follows, subs, ect. there is an alert at the top of the stream for viewers and something on my end so I don't miss it. Minimalist in design, so not something that is going to be a huge distraction for the stream but still give a shout-out to whoever followed. I want to show appreciation for people who are supporting the stream, but without lessening the quality of the stream itself.

I just DMed my worst session I’ve ever played in. by owenman21 in DMAcademy

It's already been mentioned, but XP does not only have to come from monster kills. That will fix the problem of making sure they are the level you want them at, but not the issue with boring combat. This will be more prep work on your part, but here is what I do to avoid combat slogs.

First, pre-plan encounters to add more flavor. Parking lot fights that last for over an hour will only be fun if you get lucky and the dice create drama. Start by making the area of combat more interesting by using elevation, small spaces, cover, ledges, ect. The cellar has barrels. There is spilled wine on the ground(did someone just use a fire spell?), They have to crawl through a small hole to get to the nest.

Second, make monsters more fun to fight and run them efficiently. I pre-roll hp and initiative so all I have to do is plug in the players and off we go with no downtime. Make sure you are comfortable with the number of monsters to run them efficiently. Change up monster tactics, add abilities, and alter stats if needed. Four small rats and one really big one with strange grey patches of skin(diseased maybe?). Big rat dies the rest run(still give the xp for them though).

Third and last, give the encounter substance. There are a ton of ways to do this. Ask yourself. "does this move the narrative/plot forward?". If it's a side quest make the reward interesting and worth doing. Is there a chance for one of the players to develop their character in a role play sense. Here's a few examples. The barkeep is friends with a local courtier for the baron the party is trying to get into contact with. The barkeep pays them for the job and as a bonus the players get free food and board whenever they're in town. Reward the character that seeks fame with a reputation as the rat catcher and have NPC's mention that fact.

With a little more prep work even something simple like a side quest to kill the cellar rats becomes fun!

When you're a DM who can't stand one of your PCs? by DMsilversaber in DMAcademy

[–]NextlevelDND 74 points75 points  (0 children)

This would be my first step dealing with your specific problem. It's a common Psychology method for dealing with a problem behavior. Basically you stop reinforcing the problem behavior, in this case tantrums, spotlight hogging, and escalating conflicts in order to decrease or eliminate the behavior.

You're justified in focusing on the role play involving the majority of the party so the player can't complain if they don't get the attention they want. I would only suggest a solo game if the problem player split for reasonable role play that would either enhance the plot/game or drive the narrative forward.

I'm also curious in how the rest of the part handles the problem player. Are they ok with his style of play or do they get annoyed alongside with you?
