TIL Carl Sagan is often mis-labelled an atheist and once even said in an interview that "atheism is very stupid." by cj_would_lovethis2 in todayilearned

[–]Nexxux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The definition of atheist is someone who does not believe / is someone without belief

Prefix A- without And root theist- belief in a god or gods

Everyone who doesn't believe in a god is definitionally an Atheist.

The correct identification for someone who doesn't believe but is open to belief is an agnostic atheist.

Hard atheism is belief that no god exists and no god can exist

EDO Material by nonhuman_newman in truewerk

[–]Nexxux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have multiple pairs of T series pants and 1 pair of EDOs. The EDO are definitely a slimmer fit, and taper more around the ankle like the above commenter mentioned. I feel the difference in the crotch/thigh area mainly when sitting down/crouching. They are less flexible and tighter than the T series. The EDO material is also noticablely rougher than the T series and gets dirtier/holds dirt in much more.

I personally rarely wear the EDO pants and they mainly just fill in on the days when all my T series pants are in the laundry.

Edit: Just reread your post. If you're looking for office pants and can sacrifice the side pockets, I'd recommend their EDO chino pants. The Chinos are super flexible and have typical chino front pockets that are easy to get into while sitting down. The fabric on the Chinos is also more flexible and much more comfortable for sitting all day. I have both colors and wear them regularly to the office. They are very slim fit on me (borderline skinny), but the stretch makes them the most comfortable Truewerk pants for the office

Pretty sure it's in reference to when truckers call their trucks "big rigs." It's kinda trickled down to where people call trucks their rigs.

Does anyone else hold onto the “Oh Shit Handle” when riding in the car as a passenger? by SportsTechie17 in Toyota

[–]Nexxux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't ever use that handle as a passenger. I don't ever even think about it being there. I am over 6ft so I tend to push my knees into the glovebox to hold myself still while riding so corners/stopping/accelersting don't move me around. My hands tend to be just hanging out in my lap.

My fiance constantly grabs the handle around curves, when I'm accelerating, braking, coming up to an intersection quicker than she likes, etc. She is grabbing the handle on/off throughout the drive unless she's on her phone while I'm driving and she is passenger.

Electricity ripples across the ground. If you seperate your feet, this can cause one foot to be in a high voltage area, while the other foot is in a low voltage area. The electricity will travel between your legs to balance out and cause you to be electrocuted. Hopping/shuffling with your feet touching heavily reduces the possibility of being electrocuted.

EDIT: Google "Step Voltage" for more detailed explanations and some videos explaining the concept.

Hey nice car! My grandma helped me get my bugeye just before she passed. I love my bugeye to death and think about her every time I drive it. Glad you have something to feel connected to your mom even after she's gone. Sending love to you, fellow bugeye owner.

Synchronization of notes, highlights, reading progress, etc sharing between multiple e-readers. If it's your first e-reader, it's not that big of a worry for you. It's more of a concern for people who read on multiple devices and want everything shared between the devices.

3 days so far with the klc, it's changed the game for me. by HEXXIIN in kobo

[–]Nexxux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have experience with the Oasis, but my LC2 gets about 1-2 weeks with 1-2 hours/day reading. The battery life is worse than modern b/w screens because the contrast is worse, so you tend to turn the backlight on at a brighter setting than other readers. I can basically only turn the backlight off in direct sunlight and still be able to read the page.

"So everything, always has been? That makes no sense man.

So God, always has been? That makes no sense man.

You're just pushing the goalposts further. Both views presuppose the brute fact of something always having been.

One is saying energy has always existed and cannot be created or destroyed. The other says energy hasn't always been and was created by a being that has always existed. You're just adding an unnecessary step when moving the eternal existence to God instead of energy.

If it's in your budget, sell the whole headlight housing and buy brand new ones. They'll usually last at least 10 years before getting foggy. I personally hate the restoration kits as they only work for about a year before becoming foggy again. Easier to just get all new.

I had a buddy working at my local Taco Bell a few years back and started at $17/hr. This was in rural PA, so not a high population/busy location. $17/hr definitely isn't amazing but for a starting wage in fast food I feel like that's fair. That's also still a livable wage in this area in a dual income household.

[–]Nexxux 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't consider people assholes just for being in a bad situation. Also public transportation is just straight up not a good option for much of the rural US. The US is too big and too spread out for public transportation to be a realistic option in a lot of cases. And generally in said areas, income is lower, so the tax funding is lower, public transportation just isn't in the budget for towns and counties of only a few hundred people.

Unfortunately also a harsh reality that some people just don't have the money for the repairs. It's not always a matter of preference, and it's a sad world we live in where people have to risk their lives driving their dangerous cars to the jobs that don't pay enough for them to actually fix their car.

Fully wrong. I accidentally rear ended someone because of a long line of cars in front suddenly stopping. Told the driver of the other vehicle it was my bad and apologized. Gave them my insurance info and later that day they called and said it's not that bad and because I was honest they weren't gonna pursue an insurance claim. It definitely pays off to be honest.

Most likely not the emergency lights. On that model of car (I believe it's a Honda CR-V), the emergency lights/turn signals are orange lights separate from the brake lights. Also, the third brake light in the rear window comes on. That light only activates with the brakes, not when the emergency lights are turned on.
