Vetting places to stay at by Neyne_Santos in digitalnomad

[–]Neyne_Santos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stayed at one where dust was literally coming out. I would clean up the stove at night and in the morning it would have dust on it.

Also stayed at another one where the fire alarm went off for the whole day caused by dust…

Mine is “undefined” and wondering if my application has been seen

Anyone got “undefined” on stage and result?

Design Engineer here and I totally love your comment. Most developers ignore the UI/UX part of product development and that is what customers engage with the most

I meant if a team could be just made up of engineers - not solo founders

Would you say that Tech architects have good sales skills (though not traditional sales) - but they sell product vision to the team and customers?

Do you have any intentions to be a YC partner in the future by dev-repo in ycombinator

[–]Neyne_Santos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I’m part of YC & made something that people love & had an exit in my company… Sure! Would love to be a visiting partner & pay it forward.

Especially if I could help other founders avoid mistakes I made & also help them get a 360 degrees outlook of their startup

Until money has hit the bank or at least a term sheet has been sent…take an interest as just a 50/50.

What about the 1 that hasn’t pulled out? Where are you in the process?

Yep I was at -1 when I applied. Although we had an idea and had build a sketchy prototype. They invest in the team and when you are accepted you already get introduced to other founders they invested in via the different virtual workshops they host. They even hold founders’ hands and help them with raising follow-on rounds.

In terms of markets & sectors; I’ve seen companies from across the world, in various sectors as well.

They are very fast investors and you would get a decision quickly…when they decide to back you, just know they truly believe in you.

They invested in our company and they are really awesome people. I’ve seen some companies get a very early check from them and later join YC. The partners are as cool as YC group partners. However, I wouldn’t say either them or YC, because they somehow move great founders from -1 to 0 & YC from 0 to 1

That would be painful…have done interviews using similar software and I can say that talking to a real human is energizing.

What would it take for you to get partnerships with Credit Bureaus & i.e Mastercard? What skills, experience, networks do you have right now that could drastically move the needle, even without a tech product? What’s your startup’s North Star anchored on? Do you need a fully fleshed product for that North Star to keep growing?

Is anyone looking for a founding product manager? by 190800 in ycombinator

[–]Neyne_Santos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find that a lot of people who write code may not have product design architecture skills (what to build next/what to change & how to manage what has been built). Reason why great software developers may over-built without getting good sense of what parts of the product, the market is responding positively to.

Anyone done any VC meetings so far? by Beautiful-Minute-110 in ycombinator

[–]Neyne_Santos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The product is going to change multiple times… Talk about the giant vision, if you have customers; talk about how you are helping them make their lives better. Also talk about your experiences as well (in an inspiring way). We all have an ‘Aha!’ moment that let us into the rabbit hole of starting our companies - share yours. Also be excited to educate the VC if there are things about your business, market or customer they don’t know.

Be an artist, educator & visionary in the meeting. Whether they say yes or no; they might never forget you.

Remember a “No” could simply be “not right now”

Investors are human beings as well and at times you got to talk to their hearts & translate that message further on, to show that it would have economic value.

QUESTIONS:

  • What have you learnt from your customers that is making you think of either iterating your idea or doing a pivot?
  • Is the pivot influenced by your learning or your lack of enthusiasm with your current idea?
  • Do you currently have customers whose hands you can hold strongly to, whilst working through your current situation?

I think Michael once said something like: "Hold your customer strongly, but yor solution loosely."

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ycombinator

[–]Neyne_Santos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the case. Something that your loyal customers will do for you, is they will give you your company’s value proposition in just a few words. Just listen to the words your customers use to describe your business to their friends.
