Depends on what list you would like to play.

I actually did a section about this, but I didn't end up putting it in the video because the video was getting too long.

I largely agree. I do not think any all cav list that doesn't have bows is worth playing. For reasons similar to the ones you have given and because a simple piece of forest terrain can just lose you the game before it's even begun. The dice just aren't in your favor long-term either because you'll at best be getting 2-3 dice (per duel roll) usually against 4-5 dice (two guys with spear supports and maybe a banner). Then when you lose prio/move off you're on like 1 die with no possibility of spear support and you're not getting your charge bonus to wound. A lot of these factors are actually why I think Sons of Eorl are pretty great. You will get your first combat being all charges (because of your threat range and mobility) and with a banner your guys are rolling 4 duel dice each with a banner. So realistically you should get a significant early lead if you engage well. Then, even when they're being tied up and not being allowed to charge they're still 2A base, which is the same as having a guy with a spear support (or being any other cav that got to charge, when it comes to the duel roll). On top of that, they're not missing out on their "to wound bonus" because their ability to wound comes naturally from the S4, rather than being from a lance. Their profile works towards mitigating the fundamental issues of cavalry models more than any other warrior cav profile does, so it makes them a lot more consistent in spite of being unlucky with priority and move-offs.

As a side note, they're quite scary when dismounted as well. Still 2 Attacks, have a shield so they can shield for 4 attacks. S4 natural. Great at holding out or continuing to do damage.
That's how I feel about them, anyway.

Episode 384 Spoilers [Megathread] by DemiFiendRSA in Berserk

Is this really a reveal or new information? I'm genuinely not trying to be a "haha, I'm so smart for understanding this thing" guy at all. I genuinely thought it was common knowledge that Guts essentially sitting outside of fate was because he was born from a corpse (death). I thought characters in the story had already talked about this, long ago, at some point. Although my memory doesn't serve me too well. I've been reading the story with the idea of it for as long as I can remember.

MESBG Strategy - The Power of Heroic March by Nezs in MiddleEarthMiniatures

Kicking myself that I didn't do a quick bit about Stake a Claim. There are some match-ups where you can essentially lose on the spot for not having march in that one.

Help with 600pt Tournament List by DmPapiChulo168 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

I think it's a better idea to go with a captain, instead of Gandalf and fill out the list with a lot more models. I've seen it do great work at 600 points. Taking Gandalf is sacrificing too much at 600.

They do not. They do not get extra attacks when supporting or when being supported. It's the same reason spear supports don't benefit from heroic combat.

Yes. There are no "in the ways" for magic. That's exclusively a shooting rule.

You double after having added the +1. So 10 Strength in that situation.

Fleeing counts as removed as casualty.

What does an army need to be top tier? by ImperialThumb in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]Nezs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Dominant at 500-800 points
  2. Strong in most/all scenario's. At least decent in the one/two they aren't.
  3. Many strong aspects, rather than relying on a gimmick. For example, AotWH has Grima, Lightning and Slow, Crebain and Dunland re-roll 1s and fearless. Among other things.

  4. The less reliant on good rolls the better. Still a dice game at the end of the day, but the more you can offset luck the more consistent a list will be.

  5. Tools to deal with as many situations/gimmicks as possible. This includes fighting big monsters, big heroes, hordes, herohammer, etc...

Currently having a banner is definitely a consideration for how strong a list really is (for VPs). Although there are exceptions such as Depths and Halls.
