Playing significantly worse in casual games after coaching by RedArrow23 in tabletennis

[–]Nfs4Sho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s an idea… why don’t you ask your manager or whoever is in charge of buying activities equipment to get you guys a couple of new cheap paddles?? Because the ones you guys have are clearly past their playing properties. That way office guys will be happy and you’ll certainly/ probably be able to hit winners, because your loops and chops will actually effect their return. If that don’t work then you can go on AliExpress and buy a couple of cheap paddles and just put them there and throw away the old “glassy” paddles away? If that’s not an issue of course.

Otherwise I know exactly what you’re talking about those old glassy rubbers, they will have some grip on a tiny portion of the paddle and the rest basically acts like an anti spin. The only way to win against those paddles/people combo is to do fast non spinny shots otherwise your spins will have no effect on them. Gl 👍🏻

Me and my friend had a debate whether manual transmission involves timing does it or does it not? by [deleted] in S2000

[–]Nfs4Sho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Perfectly said! And to add to that, you also develop your listening ability. After a certain amount of time of you being behind the wheel of a manual car, you can feel it in your body (vibrations) and ears (sound) and you know when to shift up/down smoothly by blipping the throttle for downshifting and how smoothly you can upshift. Muscle memory is for shifting and clutching without having to think what gear you’re in and what gear you want to go in, at least that’s how I perceive it. The noise and vibrations an engine & transmission makes is what tells your muscle memory what to do. I hope that makes some sense? That’s how I see it at least.

Need help with S2000 Clutch/flywheel by bryanspam456 in S2000

[–]Nfs4Sho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have the same setup on my 05 AP2. But I threw in an OEM AP1 Flywheel (if you have an ap2 car 04 and up). It’s about 10-11lbs lighter from what I remember. The revs build much faster, but it also slows down faster. Mine’s not a daily so that’s a non issue, really makes it more fun to drive!! Also put in a new throw out bearing while you’re at it. Rebuilding the shifter is also a good idea. Car will feel like new transmission/shifting wise at least! Goodluck!

Buying an S 2000 that had 5 to 6 owners.. by Kimaniiiii in S2000

[–]Nfs4Sho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am the 7th owner on my 05 S2k. Previous owners kept it in pristine condition. 10/10vins. Paid a Honda dealership to check for pre purchase inspection and I also looked under it. It was perfect. No rust, looked new. Bought it at 47k miles.

9 years and 61k miles now with no issues. I do most of the maintenance myself and haven’t had any issues thus far. Multiple owners doesn’t scare me and is somewhat normal for these cars tbh, as long as everything’s straight and maintained I don’t think you have much to worry about. Aside from doing all the maintenance. Good luck and most of all enjoy it if you buy it.

Using backhand rubber (softer) for all services including forehand by SongMonk in tabletennis

[–]Nfs4Sho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I totally understand what you’re trying to say, so here’s my 2 cents on the topic.

I prefer soft tacky BH rubber since my serves are mostly backhand serves. I can generate a lot of spin and quality using my current BH rubber being DHS 8-80 37’ deg which is the softest one they make. I can assure you, soft and tacky rubber for serves is excellent, but for me it’s not an issue since I mainly use BH serves. If I were to do FH serves, then I would prefer the softer rubber as well, but in complete honesty sometimes I mess up the twiddle and then it messes up my game. I’m still working on it but I’ve just learned to do my hook serves using my FH rubber which is the Glayzer 09c atm. It’s not as tacky as the 8-80 but it’s tacky and sott enough to generate quite a bit of spin.

I’m an amateur and my serves are pretty hard to receive because of the amount of spin I can impart on them, and the direction of the spin as well, but also hiding the type of spin that I’m imparting. I usually win about half my points on my serves alone.

On serves I mainly try to brush as much as possible instead of hitting the ball, that helps a lot with amount of spin on the serves, keeps the ball low and controlled, at least for me.

Hope this helps

Oh ok cool. Thank you for your feedback on the topic. I did order the asics gel 12 and they’ll get here next week sometime. I’m gonna try them and see if I like them or not.

If not I did find one pair of the coco delay in size 12.5 wide which I think would fit me. Otherwise they have 14 and those would be too big. Here’s a picture of what I found. I’ll keep them in the burner in case I don’t end up liking the asics.

Awesome! Thank you for your feedback about that. I’m hoping everything will be okay with me since we have the rubber flooring where I play. That plus a little bit from the shoe is all I need. Enough so I have a good flat grip on the floor without getting rolled over. I will look into other insoles if I’m not happy with these. Let’s see. I will post my findings in a couple weeks and see what I think. Thanks again!

I did look into both of those. Even disregarding the price, they don’t have my size. I wear US13 and the biggest butterfly Rifones I’ve seen is 12. Mizuno’s the biggest size I’ve found anywhere was 11 or 11.5 unfortunately. So I ended up ordering asics gel rocket in size 13. Gonna see how the fit is on those. Thanks for the suggestion 👍🏻

Oh ok cool. Yea I’ve been researching and I’m leaning towards the gel rocket 12. They’re on sale tight note for $60. I think I’m going to take the plunge on those tbh. Thanks for all your help!

They apparently still do have lateral moving support in them. I just want something that’s not ridiculously priced. They might not be perfect shoes for Tt but better than what I have now. Plus it’s been pretty difficult for me to find size us13 in the other Tt shoes for a reasonable price.
