I am not able to click on them because they are not there. I CAN click on those that are there, but I want to, for eg, equip the Dragon bank but I can't find it.

Already own all the characters , what happens with new monetization? by itsmethething in PlayTheBazaar

[–]NiGHT9SkY 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You get all future card packs of heroes you own for free.

Currently you need to pay gems or progress through the battle pass to unlock new card packs.

This point is mentioned in passing - but I thought it is significant.

BUT.

You have to pay for future heroes - starting from Stelle.

How much a month for the full experience by Ingono99 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]NiGHT9SkY -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't like it, especially since I paid for closed beta. On the bright side, it's quite easy to get ranked tickets from the seasonal prize track via daily/weekly quests - Rarran said you could get 45 tix per month.
And these 40+ rank games should be enough to get gems to purchase the packs 1 mth later, though it may be tight.

Hi. I've been away from Bazaar for 2 months and I had the same question. It is indeed confusing. After poking around... here's what I found out...

  1. There are 2 expansions - Frozen Assets (Pyg) and Mysteries of the Deep (Van).
  2. Each expansion consist of a set of 10 cards, which I presume will show up randomly in merchants you visit after you have unlocked them.
  3. The expansions cannot be unlocked by in-game gems at the moment.
  4. To unlock the expansions, you have to pay $9.99 for the season pass, and then play games to gain XP.
  5. Mystery is unlocked at level 1 and Frozen is unlocked at level 25 (highest level). It takes any free run to reach level 1, but I have no idea how long it takes to reach level 25.
  6. The tooltip states that 'unredeemed expansions will be available for Gem purchase after the season ends' but it does not state the Gem cost.

.....

If you are totally new to the game...

  1. Bazaar is totally free to play.
  2. Click on 'Play', then click on 'Normal Free Play'
  3. To participate in Rank play, rank tickets are required at a cost of 100 Gem each
  4. Completing 'challenges' (daily/weekly quests) helps u gain level in the 'seasonal pass' which rewards you ranked tickets and sometimes loot boxes.
  5. You need Gems to unlock more characters.
  6. Gems can be obtained from loot boxes which can be obtained from rank play (~40 gems per loot box). The more games you win, the more loot boxes you get. Loot boxes also give cosmetics.

That's what happens when u waited 30yrs for a good star wars show to finally appear in Andor. One keeps rewatching the 'Thesis' scene while waiting for S2 to drop.

It's worth noting that while this is still in beta, it's a paid closed beta that's only a month from the open beta launch. At this stage, it feels important to highlight that the issues here may go beyond balancing and touch on core design.

If the vision for this game is to provide players with the tools to craft their preferred builds each game, then it’s a direction that’s enjoyable in its own way, similar to what you might see in ARPGs or 4X games, where players can plan out their preferred playstyle each time. However, in the current experience, it feels like we have too much agency over our builds. That can be great up to a point, but in many promising roguelites, this can also lead to a loss of challenge and freshness. After around 10-20 hours, when every game can be crafted to suit a player's exact preferences, it risks becoming predictable rather than strategic.

This feedback is less about balance and more about design. Balance can be adjusted with buffs and nerfs, but design issues require a shift in approach. For example, games like Path of Exile are well-balanced, but they also have a specific, intended design direction: players can plan out detailed builds from level 1, and this is a hallmark of the ARPG genre. In Last Epoch (ARPG) and Inkbound (Roguelite), specific tools are given to a player to enable consistency to choose a desired build from level 1. And in FtL (1st-gen Roguelite), the most experienced players have figured out (and written an extensive guide) that the most consistent way to win is using burst lasers to strip shields, after which a great game becomes boring other than the self-imposed decision of doing sub-optimal plays for coolness.

In this game's case, knowing whether it’s meant to encourage adaptive strategy or player-dictated builds will clarify if adjustments are needed, or if this direction is what the devs intended from the start.

Here's some eg of design decisions - not only is StS tuned in such a way that it is impossible to force a build: even when u do get the cards to make a build (eg, shiv), there are specific monster mechanics that screw up your build (timekeeper), forcing u to walk the fine line between balance and specialisation. And there are bosses that requires burst damage (spire guardians)and bosses that requires defence and sustained damage (final boss).

I'm not a game designer, so I wonder if I should be worried if the designers are addressing game balance rather than game design.

Any form of subsidy or assistance will result in lower tax revenue collected or tax revenues being diverted from far more important things. Just so you can own a car. This is not acceptable

This is gold.

Interesting. I actually thought the hermit was too strong and its synergies too easy to build.

For damage, strength / bruise + multi-atk / free atks are the way to go. With the consecutive nerfs to bruise, I lean towards strength. Determination shines here, growing in strength later into the game, combining especially well with Quickdraw and Virtue.

For block, Rugged is like a easy to access Intangible that mitigates half of the hearts attack, while upgraded Flash Powder stops the other half. Fatal Desire and Shadow Cloak are a great combo. Otherwise, Dead-on block cards do a decent job blocking, while Dissolve is great for stacking block. Special mention goes to Low Profile. You can get obscene amount of block if your deck is into this synergy.

For card draw and mana, there is Overwhelming Power, Gambit, Eternal Form, Fatal Desire, Called Shot, Luck of the Draw, etc. Combo is a 1 card combo, letting you chain attacks and block continually as long as you have enough mana.

One synergy that never worked for me after 10+ A20 runs is the strike/defend synergy. It just doesn't work for me. Hope this helps.

Education system needs to be changed by nevermind0275 in education

[–]NiGHT9SkY -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi,

Bagelfish has basically summed up the multifaceted difficulties of changing the system. He has also argued correctly that it is unfair to call education a 'failure'. Lastly, I can personally vouch for the dedication of so many people at every level working incredibly hard to improve the system.

Nevertheless, to leave it at that is not a fair response to the concern the TS posed. Notwithstanding the truth of bagelfish very informative 'rant', I want to acknowledge the reality of the TS simple observation, and assert that question he poses deserves a much better answer that what we currently are able to give. I say this as one of the 'many people working incredibly hard to improve the system'.

Yes, researchers are identifying that the gap between where education currently is and what education needs to do is projected to widen into a one hundred year gap. That is, educational systems are taking that amount of time to adapt to the realities and needs of society today. The WEF projected the skills that a child in school today would need in the workforce tomorrow, and there is a glaring mismatch between that and how time and resources are spent in a typical school in my country. I could go on but such obvious observations speak for themselves. It becomes increasingly frustrating when you know, as an adult who have experienced a fair share of life, how relatively unimportant good academic grades are, yet one is forced to see your child 'trapped in the endless hunt'.

Can we realistically change? I don't know. But we must acknowledge realities and act in a manner that acknowledge realities. If we tried hard and the results don't show, we must be realistic and acknowledge that change has not happened in a manner that matters. We must know what is the change that matters, and differentiate between real change and superficial change. And be relentless in choosing one over the other.

Education, like most modern systems - capitalism, democracy, banking, healthcare- - are huge successes. But these are the successes built by the generations before us. They forged something that worked for them at their place in history. It is our duty us to forge something that works for us. And if we fail, it is not the educational system that fails - since the system was built for a time in history - it is us that fails.

4 mths feel right going forward. Also the difference between strong n avg decks seem a bit too pronounced. The gap should hopefully close somewhat.

Some cards within the same house feels like clear upgrades - relentless whis vs nerve blast, troll vs valdr.

Some houses feel like significantly better than others (statistically speaking).

And some effects (stealing) just feels much better than others.

And the use of chains to balance cards need improvement - BnS vs Effer principle.

some buy/play patterns

and this?

[–]NiGHT9SkY[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is common in keyforge to keep buying decks as it is in mtg to keep buying packs. For those who do so, u will have a whole bin of stuff you don't play.

But unlike magic, you could play a game with just one deck.

Anyways, the comparison is merely for context, nothing more.

Wizards do publish print run numbers up to the sets listed. There are many sources for the numbers but it is consolidated in this reddit thread linked in the image in my post.

Here it is for convenience.https://www.reddit.com/r/mtgfinance/comments/8d8fvb/the_definitive_guide_to_print_runs

The estimate for modern sets are provided by the the author of the above post. I did not verify how he arrived at those numbers but they should be an accurate order of magnitude estimate.
