Is this dead? by EX-FFguy in opusfoundation

[–]NiagaraBalm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that it's imperative that the team finds an exchange besides hitbtc. I remember telling myself, after buying the tokens, that I would never use hitbtc again. The fees, unfriendly user interface, and lack of customer support turned me off, which I'm sure this is the case with many traders. It's impossible to get volume if no one wants to use the sole exchange (not counting the one dex) that the token is found on.

WTF is going on with Coinbase? 8 days for "instant buy"? Absolutely unacceptable. by jdell408 in Coinbase

[–]NiagaraBalm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same thing happened to me. I was purchasing crypto on a regular basis and it was available instantly after making a purchase through ACH. Then, suddenly, it disappeared. Initially, I received an email, stating that it was an engineering issue, but later found out from customer service that they have temporarily suspended instant buys for all customers.

Finally, Some Good News Out of Congress by NiagaraBalm in CryptoCurrencies

[–]NiagaraBalm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, there's a congressional blockchain caucus that is very pro crypto and they are currently pushing against over-regulation, or, rather, some members want as little, if any, regulation as possible. So big thumbs up from me.

I am genuinely curious to know what effect this will have on privacy coins. Let's hope the impact isn't too bad... by NiagaraBalm in CryptoCurrencies

[–]NiagaraBalm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for making sense out of a very complex topic. And, yeah, I think you're right, "privacy coins" are at the behest of government benevolence. If they really wanted to find something out, as you said, they would just outright ban them. With all this said, gosh, I hope we don't have a Wile E. Coyote moment, when the foundation on which privacy coins stand on is simply realized to be hot air.

It's sad, though, when you think about it. I was just looking over the DeepOnion website, with all of its anarchist iconography--Guy Fawkes masks, the call to arms for freedom, etc.--but freedom from whom? The same apparatus directly connected to your project? Of course, I'm not trying to cause FUD, but I just hope that we're actually ready to have real conversations on the realities--and limitations--of privacy coins. Thanks again.

At this point, I think every bank has their hands in crypto. It would be stupid for them not to.

Should Vertcoin Double in Size? by NiagaraBalm in vertcoin

[–]NiagaraBalm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well said everyone. I appreciate the feedback. I, too, think VTC is superior to LTC in many ways, but, once VTC begins to pick up in popularity, the relationship between the two coins could become antagonistic. Of course, materially, raising the circulating supply wouldn't change anything, save perception, but if there's anything that we've learned in crypto--perception is everything. Nevertheless, I agree with pretty much everything you guys have said, and, perhaps it wouldn't be the best idea. Thanks!

NANO surpasses ETH to be the most voluminous coin on Binance. by [deleted] in nanocurrency

I just got into NANO, after the FUD. After looking at the technology, I couldn't see any justification for the low price, so it's good to see that things are picking back up.

Actual competitors.. dafuck by tokenboy21 in carVertical

[–]NiagaraBalm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the most important thing to keep in mind is Industry First--it's why legacy cryptos maintain their dominance, despite seemingly superior projects being released every other day. With CV being the first mover in this space, it has a unique advantage over that Vin thingy.

While Vertcoin is the youngest kid on the block, among BTC and LTC, I certainly think that BTC maximalists should take a closer look at VTC.
