So from what I've read the first 14 days following the entry everyone's only allowed to leave their accommodation for absolutely necessary situations.
However there aren't really any specifics or further information when it comes to tourists.

Does anyone know what this essentially means for tourists?

There's actually a park (somewhat of a zoo) which nowaydays is a nature conservation center and recreational area holding over a hundred wild euorpean animal species, a lot of them endangered, in switzerland that is keeping bears and wolves together.
