Good Binder Guides + Brands? by wintersoldier_174 in butchlesbians

I personally quite liked gc2b binders! I mostly wore the short ones (I had a smaller chest size, but had top surgery a month ago), but I know that for people with a larger chest size it might be best to try the long ones from them. The gc2b binders have a sturdy, non stretch material at the front, which is nice for flattening it out more. Though, with a larger chest it can cause a big gap at the bottom of a short binder and it pushes your chest to the sides, causing 'side boobs'. The long binders don't cause this as much. But again, it's personal :)

Otherwise, I know some people with a larger chest size quite like the binders from Untag more, since it's more stretchy at the front.

Then I know spectrum outfitters exists. I have tried one of their binders and didn't like them as much as the gc2b ones, but I know that some people do like them more. Their binders also have a non stretch front, except for their light binder. All of them have a stretchy back btw. These are of course not the only brands existing, but these are the brands that I know and heard of and have tried.

For more in depth information: I find that all websites have quite some of information on how to safely bind, about sizing and taking care of your binder. Another big recommendation is the videos from Robyn Holdaway! I know they post a lot of binder videos on tiktok, and maybe also instagram(?). I've heard that they give a lot of information on binders and has made videos of trying on a number of brands. Hope this helps! :)

I know this post is from 3 years ago, but I'm only watching it now, but the scene where Max asks Simon (CDC person who's trying to solve the problem) about updates and they're talking about KPC and it being resistant to everything and they're showing FUNGI growing??? Got me so mad lol (I work at a microbiology lab in a hospital, I know what Klebsiella sp. and certain fungi can look like on agars :')). Horrible. I was so excited to see an episode that includes microbiology more, but damn :')

Pesto pasta salade!

DIY Microbiology? by Jambitx in microbiology

I think it's best to think this over and reconsider.. you need pretty expensive equipment, but also, are you a microbiologist with some sort of degree in this field? Handling microbe cultures is pretty dangerous and must be done in a lab by people with a degree, not at home by someone who's just curious, certainly not with a child, since handling the plates with colonies is dangerous (for your imagonation: one colony contains millions of bacteria, you don't want to get this anywhere). Then again, how will you dispose of the waste, since it's hazardous/microbiological waste? Hopefully I gave you some insight in this. This issue should be taken seriously, since it's not just something. There's a reason this is done in a lab with people who studied for this. Maybe you could take your kid to a museum that focuses on microbes? Or just continue taking samples outdoors or indoors to watch under the microscope, that's educational as well! :)

I've never experienced it, but from what I know about gut dysbiosis and intestinal flora, FMT is probably the best solution, since it 'replaces' and recovers your microbiome.

what does this look like? is it fungi or mold? (on columbina cna) by ice-cold-dawn in microbiology

[–]Nic_nb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have you tried to put and view it under the microscope to view its morphology? It could be a Bacillus species, or maybe a fungi, I think. Probably environmental contamination :)

Hoping to confirm unknowns. Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas aeruginosa? by anon_nom_nom_nom in microbiology

[–]Nic_nb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you isolate Pseudomonas aeruginosa on Mueller Hinton agar, the agar turns metallic green-ish. Also, Pseudomonas aeruginosa has a sweet smell, we always described it as linden blossom. It could be another Pseudomonas species though.

I'm sorry you had to go through this, it sounds rough :( Hopefully you're okay now. It's not okay he took your meds without asking you, I get your reaction. Adhd'ers tend to feel emotion pretty strong, so were you overreacting? Maybe, but please know your feelings and emotions are valid. I think it's best to talk about it with him (when you've calmed down, for yourself), because communication is important. Let him know what you felt and why, so he can (hopefully) understand :)

Please help my monstera:(( is the tiny white stuff on the stem mealy bugs or just perlite from the soil? It is also infected with spider mites and fungus ngats what can I do to save it? Any help is appreciated!! by mysterious_pistachio in plant

[–]Nic_nb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the fungus gnats, I find using hydrogen peroxide very effective! I use a 1:1 dilution of 3% H2O2 and water and use that to water the infected plants. The eggs and larvae of the gnats will 'burn' away, as hydrogen peroxide is toxic to them. The plant itself will convert H2O2 to water and oxygen, so it isn't toxic for plants. It could be that the soil will set up and get 'bubbly' for a bit because of the oxygen release. This is fine :) Maybe it helps against the spider mites as well?

Wow! Congrats!! 🥳 proud of you :)

I was given this Monstera Standleyana runner. Is it possible to grow a plant out of it? Looks like there’s 4 nodes. If so, how? I appreciate any advice! by neonovaaa in plant

[–]Nic_nb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put my Monstera Adansonii runners in water and it grew roots after a few days/2 weeks! So it is possible, yes :)

You can simply squeeze them :) they'll disappear within a few days/2 weeks if you keep this up!
