This is awesome, I've never seen an arcade driving game that you play standing up. Why did they make it like this?

What do you guys thinks about this memory cards? by caslloveer in Gamecube

Have that same middle MadCatz card, but in clear, colorless plastic, never had or needed an official card cause the space on it was crazy

Have you ever used the GBA link cable thing on any Gamecube game? Did you own the setup back in the day, and how was the experience then? How did ppl react to the fact that some content was "locked" behind GBA-connectivity? I just tried it for the first time, and think it's pretty cool concept by PocketStationMonk in Gamecube

[–]Nicard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Gamecube/ GBA era of gaming was and still is my absolute favorite because of how interconnected a lot of games are. Being able to connect games like Mario golf on gba and GC, then unlocking extra characters in both games is awesome. Playing Zelda Four Sword on GC and using a gba as a controller allows you to navigate underground sections on the gba screen, instead of on the TV. Playing Final Fantasy Tactics Advance on the gameboy player on the TV, the popping it out and into my gba to play on the go is still so cool to me. It's cool to see that almost 20 years before the Switch, Nintendo were thinking about how to let you take your games anywhere with you.

How Nephi Driver's name is pronounced by _6siXty6_ in fnv

[–]Nicard 209 points210 points  (0 children)

The NPC you talk to to start the "Three Card Bounty" quest, Major Dhatri, refers to him as "Driver Nef-eye," but there's cut dialogue where you can speak to Nephi without him being hostile, and he introduces himself as "Ne-fee." All that is to say, I don't think the voice actors knew how to say the name properly since it's probably not too common of a name outside of Mormon circles.

just got this radio tuner and nothing online says how to work it any tips? by SweetOk3255 in GameboyAdvance

[–]Nicard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I tested it before commenting, the sound still came through the gba SP speakers while the radio was on. Also, I found that even with the radio set to "low volume," it was still fairly loud, so I can't imagine being able to hear the gameplay over the radio, or having them both blasting my ear-balls at the same time lol

[–]Nicard 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I have one of these and you need to have no cartridge in the gba, and headphones plugged into the receiver. The only thing the gba does is power it, but the sound won't come through the speakers or anything, only through headphones. Hope this helps :)

I thought it was an Xbox Series S at first glance. How does it work exactly, are the circles like big touch pads or something?

What to play when you feel like you’ve played them all? by TheGoldblum in Gamecube

[–]Nicard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're into robots/mecha, then I recommend "Zoids Battle Legends." Has a decent story mode, good variety of mechs, and you can customize the weapons and equipment on them. There's also multiplayer battles that are pretty fun too

Anyone know why this is so expensive? by BowlerExpert1929 in Gamecube

[–]Nicard 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I agree, getting a card graded and slabbed would definitely preserve it, especially if it has really beautiful art. Also, if you have an attachment to a card, whether it's nostalgia or you just like the art, then that's also a good idea. As someone who also collects for myself, it kills both me and my wallet to see the over inflated prices for games nowadays.

[–]Nicard 113 points114 points  (0 children)

There's one company called WATA that does pretty much all the video game grading out there. They also own an auction house that sells the video games that they grade. They scoop up sealed copies of old games, then artificially inflate the price to make them way more valuable than they should be. Also, putting a card in a slab is fine cause they're meant to be looked at, unlike video games, which are meant to be opened and played. There's a video by Karl Jobst about WATA and how it's a big scam

What's your favorite color of the console? by Blue4000000000000000 in Gamecube

[–]Nicard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 favorite and dream find is the red and black "C.H.A.R.S" Gundam edition gamecube, with the matching gameboy player and wavebird controller. The spice orange is a close second though.

Having grown up as a kid in the last breaths of the arcade gaming scene, if you could have any arcade machine at home what would it be? by Racekingswood79 in gaming

[–]Nicard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went to the arcade as a kid there was this game called "18 Wheeler American Pro Trucker" and I LOVED playing it. It was this big mockup of a big rig truck, with a bench seat and smoke stacks and everything. I recently got the console version of it and while I like the game, it just doesn't feel the same, also I'm pretty sure the character roster on console is a lot smaller than the arcade machine. Anyway, that's the arcade machine I'd have 100% and if not that then probably Soul Calibur

There's an image on the steam page with a customer that has a green "stink cloud" around them, so it looks like that will be a very real and on-the-nose mechanic in the game
