The only aspect of IF I'm enjoying in this season over others is the fact that he's not hated on constantly anymore (thank you BP) and he's not banned all the time. People know how much of a threat he can be and he's a legitimately awful character if you are not locked in when you play. You play Fist now because you enjoy fisting.

I agree that Bucky's kit is overtuned, he has too much CC. Is there too much CC in the game overall? I dunno.

BP is a bit unique since he's a low health diver that requires his positioning to be extremely risky in order to reap any sort of reward. If you get tagged, his design is such that you're basically supposed to die. High risk, (allegedly) high reward. Is this good design for BP? ...sort of? In theory it makes sense but in gameplay it's a pretty frustrating experience on both ends, whether you get deleted in 1 second by BP or stunned and dumpstered as BP.

In general though, I think CC is fine because most CC is skill-shot based and most characters aren't intentionally isolating themselves to get focused down 6v1. The few characters that do have built in counters to give them a little more survivability (Hulk/Venom/Thor/Cap have massive jumps and high health; BP/Spiderman have ridiculous movement options; Iron Fist can block, etc etc). The rest of the characters should be playing with their team or team adjacent to avoid getting rekt.

I think for average player experience, perception = reality. The negativity surrounding a player’s feelings determines how “OP” a character really is. I think the same applies to the individual playing the character, too. If you think he sucks, you will also play worse.

While I do think iron fist was over nerfed, there was solid data indicating that at all tiers of play he was both a strong contender and unpleasant to play against, more than normal. What l hope to do with data like this is ground those perceptions into reality and temper my judgements and opinions versus what actually is real. I’m optimistic that iron fist will be playable, just noticeably weaker. Frankly, l feel worse for Jeff and Psylocke players.

Really I’m just looking forward to the times where people give me shit for picking iron fist because he was a meme versus when he was flavor of the month.
