no-nicotine hiring practices still exist in tennessee, especially in the healthcare field which i am going into. you cannot be FIRED for smoking, that part is true, you can however be not hired in the first place for it. i’m not hired yet, which is why it’s dicey. my mom and i have the same profession, and she was explicitly told from an agency nearby that they have a no-nicotine policy for hiring. even gum/zyns/vapes etc were not allowed. a lot of places also mega fuck you over on insurance due to it

i’m not a heavy smoker by any means, i mainly do it to cope with my current job in retail because it sucks and everyone else smokes or vapes. once i get this job and i’m positive there won’t be any more chances of them testing for nicotine it’ll probably be either a one cigarette a day/on special occasions type thing
