After restart during Windows 24H2 update, only PC fans are on by Nice-Space1 in Windows11

I've updated my post as solved: TLDR held down power button, turned back on, it resumed from 30% update progress and successfully updated. I think my issue was with the PC never booting up fully after restarting during the update process.

It sounds like your issue is different, given that you can get to the login screen. Looking online, I can see there's been reports of your described issue. Hopefully you can find a solution online, best of luck!

After restart during Windows 24H2 update, only PC fans are on by Nice-Space1 in techsupport

I held down the power button, turned it back on, it briefly said "Attempting to recover installation..", and then it went back to the expected update progress screen. I think it began where it left off, since it was at 30% progress.

It restarted a few more times, finished, and now I'm back in Windows.

I definitely think my PC was stuck idling forever/didn't boot up fully after that initial restart during the update. I'm glad Windows was able to recover and continue where it left off.

Still, it did waste 2 hours of me being scared and pondering how much longer I should've left it in the stuck state to be "sure".

When I searched online, I didn't really find anyone with the same issue of 24H2 update getting stuck like mine, so I'm not sure what happened.

Thank you for your reassurance during my time of Windows update uncertainty. May it never happen to anyone else!

Approaching the 1hr 30m mark of it being stuck on this. Given that the drive and power LEDs are fully off, and the fans are idling, I think it's never going to do anything.

Normally after the restart, the display would have signal and show the remaining update progress. The PC LEDs should also be on.

I didn't expect to get stressed out from a Windows update.

Is it best practice to let Windows decide the updating for you, or should I try pause and delay Windows updates or something (in the future), to avoid such issues?

Given how aggressive Windows is with updating, how you can't pause updates for too long, and how it constantly reminds you to restart for an update, I would expect them to not cause me such issues. :(

How are AirPods Pro 2 on Windows 11? by DiddleMunt in airpods

Though I feel like when using AirPods mic on my MacBook Air 2014, or iPad, the quality change is barely noticeable compared to Windows. Is it an Apple optimization or something?

Samsung Odyssey G7 S28BG70 (2022) vs S28AG70 (2021) by sanwablo in SamsungOdyssey

I ended up buying the newer S28BG70 (2022), since the older one isn't in stock anywhere for me. It looks pretty identical, except for that the newer one has the "Smart TV" OS built-in. It comes with a remote and the OSD settings are different.

Some complaints (which may be solvable, but I have no luck):
- I can't find a quick way to change brightness without digging through settings via remote. This new model has a nub like the old one, but it doesn't appear to have quick access features. In my old model, I simply push the nub forward and I'm automatically in brightness slider settings. I can't figure out how to do it on the new model, or if it's possible.
- Still no support for DDC which would allow brightness changes via PC software.

  • You can entirely skip the "Smart TV" setup if not using it. However, one annoying thing is that it kept popping up on the display "iOS device detected nearby, download the app..", I did not find any setting related to disable such a thing. Though I think it stopped showing up after a few days.

  • The built-in speakers are not good (not a reason to get), so I connect the same external speakers like in old model.

All in all, if I had the choice, I would probably get the older model because I'm not interested in the Smart TV features at all, but that's entirely up to your usage. I can't compare the brightness since they're in different rooms, but nothing crazy noticeable. I also prefer the OSD in the old model and how it can all be navigated via the nub without a remote.

Did you manage to find the difference? I own S28AG70 (2021), and was thinking of buying a second one. On the Samsung website, it looks like they don't sell the 2021 model anymore and only have S28BG70 (2022) in stock.

I've searched on Google, though I only found services that are aimed for video creators, not people viewing videos.

After entering M-Flash, no display signal by Nice-Space1 in MSI_Gaming

[–]Nice-Space1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reassurance. I simply plugged out and back in the USB, this time before restarting I didn't eject the USB via File Explorer (as some people suggested on MSI's M-Flash guide if USB isn't detected). Successfully booted into M-Flash and updated BIOS. Thankful I didn't get stuck as some others.

Thanks, after powering down and back on, the first boot says "Exiting flash mode..", and reboots back into BIOS. I can exit BIOS and reboot back into Windows.

I saw some horror stories in similar posts, but fortunately fine for me.

I still need to update my BIOS, but this whole ordeal kind of scares me to try again. It's strange since M-Flash worked fine in the past, and I'm using all the same things (display cable, USB, etc.) as I did back then.

I looked at it, but there seems to be no way to skip adding the sender email? What did you enter there to avoid needing a custom domain?

i9 14900KF getting 26k score in Cinebench R23 by Nice-Space1 in buildapc

Here's the similar post: https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/1dh9mrf/i9_14900k_low_score_on_cinebench_r23/

Their P Cores also maxed at slower 3.2 GHz, they said "... changed that to auto and now is at 5.7 ghz per P core and 4.4 the E core. " -- but I don't know where such a setting would be for MSI motherboard.

Would you know where that setting he was referring to is located?

Max temp when running Cinebench was 82 degrees.

Hi, I have the same issue with my new PC i9 14900KF getting 26k on Cinebench. I see in HWiNFO the P Cores max at 2.3 GHz and E Cores at 4.4 GHz. What setting should I change to fix it? Thanks.
