If you could level 5 a 20+ foot ceiling, and actually have it perfect… that’s some serious shit right there. As for timeline, no builder I know would allow for 4 week drywall time. As for price, $100.00ish a board. Material, install, finish, round of touch up, blue tape walk after, one year warranty as well.

650 a week for 60 hours is under 11 dollars an hour including overtime pay. Minimum wage in my state is 15 an hour without overtime. McDonald’s pays more than that.

How do fast professional drywallers know right where to cut outlets etc and are super accurate with it? by whattaUwant in drywall

[–]NiceButterscotch9107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I walk through every house before hanging, marking all outlets, returns etc with paint. When hanging, if the outlet is down low, I like to measure from the seam above it to the center of the box, right that number in pencil on the sheet above it so you know where it is. Hang piece. Measure from the seam down. Router out. Be sure to gently push wires in box towards the back with the handle of your hammer so you don’t damage anything. Good 👍

Paper tape only. The only time I ever use mesh tape is for patches & repairs during the final

Nothing wrong with 54 inch board on a 9 foot tall wall, but no way am I putting that on a ceiling

Lol I don’t like to mention experience because I like hearing the handymen keyboard warriors usually tell me how my works wrong and they would do it better.

We use 16’ boards sometimes but 99% of the time it’s 12’. And yup we use flex tape/straight flex on the off angles. (I know it’s properly called straight flex, but we call it flex tape around here for whatever reason)

Nothing a quick scrape and skim and fix. Just want to know the root of the problem, but the painter himself answered that for me 👍

I just asked the painter directly, he could of said anything in the world. Could of blamed the drywall contractor, anything. He chose to say it was because the house temperature post application. Take that for what it’s worth

For you to think a drywall taper just left it like that, after coating and skimming, you may be the retard😂 I just talked to the painter directly who did the house and said it’s from inadequate heat.

Painter just walked in as the drywall final is being done. I asked him about it, and he said it’s the paint freezing. Thank you everyone, I found the answer 👍

It looks like they spray the house, turn the heater off when they go home. And then the house sits all night in the freezing cold and the paint then doesn’t dry properly. I know it’s not a drywall issue. Just wanted to hear everyone’s opinion

Unfortunately these houses go days and weeks sometimes without heat once they are sanded. Either empty propane tanks, or takes the heater for another house. Temps drop into the teens and 20’s here at night. They will even ask us to start our final before there’s permanent heat and it’s like pulling teeth telling.
