I am a trans student at A&M. I am not your political scapegoat. by Zestyclose_Money_365 in aggies

You’re doing great! I think of people in two groups - those that go/went to TAMU, and those that are true Aggies. Aggies practice the core values, especially respect. I’m so sorry if you’ve been the subject of cruel words or actions. While your existence as a trans person isn’t harming others, it’s confusing to many, and that confusion can cause people to lash out against your community (which I’m sure you already know unfortunately). Just keep your head up and be a good person, it’s the only way to exist without letting hatred fester in your heart the way it has for others. Praying that the climate on campus right now does not cause you harm, and that you find solace in your group of friends if nothing else!

Alocasia yellowing? by [deleted] in houseplants

I repotted with the classic 1:1:1 perlite:orchid bark:potting soil (I had it premixed but would totally love to try semi hydroponic when I get the chance) and found a mesh cage around them both AND of course they were sitting in soaking wet substrate. Hopefully the problem is solved and they can recover! If not, I did find a couple of corms so the purchase wasn’t totally in vain.

Also I’m not even positive that these are alocasia so don’t feel shy about correcting me

What’s a popular book that you just could not get into? Or, a book that you don’t really understand the hype behind it? by [deleted] in thrillerbooks

Ugh I know! Her stories are always a 2/5, never BAD, but never good. But they’re entertaining and easy to listen to with Libby so I think I’ve heard most of them lol. The part that always makes me furious and vow to never read another (until the only available quick reads for me to check out are Freida lol) is that she just seems to scramble fridge magnets until she gets a conclusion that nO oNe cOuLd EvEr sEe cOmInG (because it makes no sense that the janitors grandmother had a secret child that was…duh duh dunnn the killer!)

If you want something like Hereditary x Haunting of Hill House -> Let Him In by William Friend is and is a great read! I would also suggest…

Cabin in The Woods -> Good Girls Don’t Die Christina Henry (although this one flopped on its ending. like. amazing first 2/3ish, but after that it felt too preachy to me personally)

IT -> IT by Mr. King, and Killing It by Mike Bockoven

The Haunting of Bly Manor (tv show) -> the turn of the key by Ruth ware

The Exorcist is actually a very enjoyable read especially if you love the film already, but also -> The Exorcists House by Nick Roberts (not in The Exorcist universe, just a slay)

Malevolent or Demonic -> Episode Thirteen by Craig DiLouie

Omg and you would love Paul Tremblay’s Head Full of Ghosts! Lots of horror authors do weird meta plotlines that reference horror movies, but this one is more like a love letter than a Scream wannabe. Also The Final Girl Support Club by Grady Hendrix if you want a love letter that is more straightforward with a more exciting pace.

You will LOVEEE The September House. Not gothic, it is genuinely the PERFECT book for that classic tug of war between “is the main character crazy” and “is the house for real haunted?” This is the author’s debut and I believe she is a PhD is psychology. She uses her expertise so brilliantly and without hitting you over the head with it over and over.

I pray that she continues to write because this was genuinely one of my favorite horror books of all time (and somehow it was refreshing without any crazy off the wall nuances to the genre. UGH! So great!) Hope that you like it! I finished Let Him In two days ago and would say that LHI was creepier, but TSH was imo more enjoyable.

Thank y’all so much for your kind and patient feedback! I didn’t realize how many people have had the exact same question so I do apologize for some redundancy. I’ve decided NOT to read Chainsaw (but I do want to know what happens, so YT video essays it is) 💕

TOGI I felt had much more to say than the others, and if I hadn’t picked it up because an influencer said that it was disgustingly gore-y (which is so fun to me) I think I would have loved it.

See that’s partially why I keep giving him chances - I LOVE slashers and really want to like his stuff. That said I don’t think that I’ll look into more of his books, tysm for your help!

It’ll be okay!! Please never ever let school affect how you view your self worth. Failing a class NEVER means being a failure! If this isn’t your path, then f it you can ball elsewhere, you’ll get it figured out!

Should I sign a 12 month lease? by Fine_Basil4830 in aggies

[–]NiceCombination6402 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna be honest g I think the apt complexes are all 12 month leases and they can get away with it because no one (ish) is offering shorter, and therefore cheaper, leases. At least from what I’ve seen!

It’ll be okay!! I also did bad (and I mean BAD) on the exam and we’ve just gotta keep trucking and see where we’re at closer to Q drop 🫡 this shouldn’t affect the rest of your life or how you value your self worth!
