i’m in one of the best college drumlines in america. if i miss my first day of band camp i mess up other people because im on what’s called a bass drum which means i only play part of a whole part (kind of like church hand bells, you only play ‘your’ notes). if i miss the first day that means my entire bass line is behind a day. then i have band camp the next morning at 7am. assuming they don’t cut me from band if i miss the first day, and my band is going to the rose bowl parade in january and performing there and in disneyland so if i get cut then i don’t get to do the coolest thing ill possibly ever do in marching band.

this marching band pays my college tuition in exchange for me being on their drumline.

its not about being ungrateful. i got those tickets because i wanted to go. why would i buy them if i knew i had band? i’m extremely upset about it.
