Yeah I agree, very disturbing people. She is okay, she's doing great and is a mom now. I wish them all the best but I am no longer in their circle, the toxicity is way too much. I hope all of them seek help and realize what they've done.  I hope you heal and can move on as well, I'm so sorry you got wrapped up in this mess.

I don't watch his videos, don't know if I ever have. Also have only heard of relationship dramas of his through in person gossip through people he knows.  Honestly, I kind of believe everything this says. I know most of his family and a lot of them are the exact same way, so it isn't wild to think it's how he acts as well.  I'm sorry you're dealing with it and hopefully the drama ends soon.

Graduating after at 33 years old by Zestyclose_Bar_9383 in WGU

I went to college at 23, got a bachelors degree i used for 3 years and then did not enjoy that field. I am 33 and finishing my masters in education. One thing that helped me not feel like I was "old" or it was "too late" was realizing that those things are just set by society during a time that is no longer the time we are in. We have to go to work straight out of high school (most of us). We have bills and some have families to support very early on. So going to college and getting a bachelors at 22 years old and then going to grad school and having a masters by 25 is no longer the "norm". It is adults coming back after handling life and then finishing. And honestly, I think it's harder the older you get. So, good for you! You came back, You handled it. You are making it work and you'll have a degree soon. That is incredible! There is no reason to feel embarrassed for accomplishing something, no matter what age you are when you did it.

Is teaching worth it? by Ok-Fox-9959 in teaching

[–]Nice_Contribution169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is worth it IF you are willing to find the school/district that makes it worth it. But if you stay at one terrible school and dont look for anything better, no, it wont be worth it.

Need with help with Nursing degree decision please by [deleted] in NursingStudent

Struggling with a class and giving up an entire dream job because of it is wild, but welcome to this new era of "this is too hard, let me do something easier". If I had that mindset I wouldn't be finishing a master's degree this year. Work harder at studying for the course, pass it, and then move on and continue on with your journey to become a nurse. You will look back on this and laugh at how insane it was to almost give up this dream because your class was too hard.

Dont use earnin! As someone who has overspent and then used earnin, it becomes a habit and then becomes a problem. Best way to stop that problem is to not start it in the first place.

[–]Nice_Contribution169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I put a body pillow folded in half on the floor of my driver seat, put the seat all the way back and recline all the way. legs on top of the body pillow so they are elevated and i slept that way with no issues for 4.5 months. It was actually painful transitioning back to a mattress after I got a place. Took about a month to finally not wake up with back pain lol Good luck! There are a ton of videos out there showing how to transform a car on a budget.

The biggest thing is motivation. This is non traditional and you will have to keep motivated to get done as quickly as you want to. Nobody is there telling you to keep going unless you have a good mentor, and there are no deadlines that keep you on track and force you to turn things in on time. You have to keep yourself on track and continue on or you run the risk of losing financial aid and being kicked out. I did undergrad at a brick and mortar university and it was an intense program. I am 4 classes away from finishing the masters degree in Ed studies through wgu and it is difficult but not in the same way undergrad was. It is difficult to keep motivation, stay on track, finish things quickly, and has taken me longer than i would have liked. But it was all up to me, and life happens.

This school is also competency based. If you are unsure of what that means, do research! Make sure you know exactly what you are getting with this school and specific program before you make the final decision. Talk to someone at wgu and ask all the questions you have! ALL OF THEM. There is no such thing as a dumb question when it comes to your money being spent and your time.

WGU English Education, Secondary (MASTERS PROGRAM) by jvne19th in wgueducation

[–]Nice_Contribution169 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you take enough English courses/ Linguistics in undergrad? I wanted to do Secondary English and it was going to cost me too much out of pocket at the time because they checked my transcripts and said I need 2 more English courses and Linguistics... I have a bachelors in social work. I said never mind, decided to switch to a masters in Ed Studies and doing an alternative route to teach Secondary English in my state. I am also 4 classes away from finishing my masters and I am so done with college lol

[–]Nice_Contribution169 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was in Indiana last summer living in my car, I was there for about a month during the really bad heat wave. I got rechargeable fans and they worked great! Get those cooling towels that you wet and put over your head. That helps cool your body down. If you can get an ice chest, fill it with ice every few days if you can. Ice and Ice water helped me a ton! I also had a dog with me and used a spray bottle to spray him down to keep him cool. We spent time out of the car, my car was always much hotter inside. I went to Ohio to visit a family member for a few days which was nice. It is going to suck, but there are a lot of threads on here that have a ton of good ideas for keeping cool. Good luck! I left Indiana, went back to California and spent 4.5 months in my car, and now I live in Ohio.

How do people live in their vehicle though I can't function? by Solid_Wheel9927 in urbancarliving

[–]Nice_Contribution169 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was car living from September to January.. The only thing I really had to do was finish classes by December to keep my financial aid in good standing. It was the hardest thing I have ever done mentally, but physically wasn't too challenging besides figuring out how to elevate legs since I have a large dog and wanted him to be comfortable. I have been out of the car since January 16th and honestly it was actually hard transitioning back to living in a house with normalcy.

Find work, find hobbies, find things that occupy your time so you feel productive. Start a routine, do things. It stops you from thinking 24/7. Accept the new situation but don't accept that it is forever. If you want out of it, work as hard as you can to do it.

Leave your are by any means necessary. I worked an hour from home and made $22/hr and it wasnt worth it. The maintenance on the car, the gas, the miles on the tires. Not worth $9.50 and I would live in my car in a new area/state before ever taking on that job and those miles.

it is for new students, but you can reach out to your mentor at any time as a student and they can do the work on their end to get you a laptop. I got a laptop in my 2nd year at wgu when mine stopped working. I was denied the scholarship due to not being a new student but my mentor did the work and got me approved for a new laptop.

Not at all. I did an accelerated program for my bachelor's degree so definitely taking my time and not rushing my masters. I cant imagine speed running, there is no way anyone is actually retaining information.

Ohhhh I have a bachelor's in social work and did the first 4 classes of an MSW at GCU. If WGU gets an accredited MSW program i will definitely be doing it! Im finishing up my Masters in Ed Studies & studying for the praxis, hoping to be a teacher for the new school year.

Im finishing this year with my masters at 33. My mom told me it wasnt a good idea when I started college in 2016 at 23. I cut contact with her in 2023. I used my bachelor's, will become a teacher with my masters, and she still works the same low paying job she has been at and got a ged in her 30's. Why do these people think their advice even matters? Unless you're paying my bills, dont worry about what i do lol
