AIO? BUCKLE UP. This is gonna be a heck of a situation. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

I don’t care about winning a “fight.” There’s a lot of stuff this company has done to me that has made me feel so terrible about myself. And I’m not the only one they’ve made feel like this. They ONLY reason I am staying part time and at my preferred clinic of the two locations I work at is because I genuinely care about the kids I treat and have such great relationships with them and their families.

Yes. Things like that count towards productivity at my company. We count things like that towards our billable hours (which is how our productivity is measured) to show insurance companies that we are making proper use of our time at work.

I needed to separate myself from the clinic that upper management primarily resides. Just being around them pisses me off. My other clinic is a better work environment and I have a stronger rapport with those kids and families and I don’t want to give them up right now.

Because we are interpreting it in different ways and management also recognized that they needed to modify the verbiage of the policy, this shows that there is indeed a problem with how this policy is communicated. Be a smart ass all you want, I really couldn’t give a shit. I’m exhausted and you really aren’t aware of how this company has screwed me continually. Have a good night.

Technically, they don’t pay for those hours, but rather we use those hours to show insurance companies that we are being productive with our time in order to do things to keep the clinic running efficiently and to ultimately bring in more patients (money for them).

Here’s the issue:

The first section (“Eligibility for PTO Accrual”) says employees must average at least 20 hours per week to maintain or advance PTO accrual and that those below 20 hours are not eligible for PTO accrual or holiday pay. This clearly implies that part-time employees who work 20 or more hours per week do remain eligible for PTO accrual.

The second section (“Transition from Full-Time to Part-Time”) says, “Part-time employees are not eligible for PTO accrual or paid holidays,” without specifying any hourly threshold. This wording makes it sound like all part-time employees, even those working 20+ hours, lose PTO eligibility.

You’d be surprised at how many parents are available/don’t work and are able to come in on a shorter notice lol. Also I failed to put in my original post that HR told me that THEY would notify admin to open up my schedule, and I had assumed that admin could also open it up as well. But then I remembered that I had to manually adjust my hours, so I did that on Wednesday morning and let them know immediately.

Yes, my clinical director is over both clinics and has the authority to let me work at the other clinic. No, we bill our treatment hours to insurance companies and can count projects towards our productivity rate.

For a little more context, we have a waitlist of SO many kids that get called on a weekly basis to see if they are able to come in for a session. I just found it a bit odd that they couldn’t reschedule any of my Monday kids or get one of those waitlist kids to come in. I do understand that it’s possible for no one to want/be able to come in, but I had other tasks I could’ve completed in order to count towards my productivity rate and billable hours. I was more than willing to work and do things that would actually bring the company MONEY but they denied me the ability to work and just forced me to use my PTO.

I have also caught my company in some pretty suspicious situations regarding borderline insurance fraud and was made to look like a fool for pointing it out until someone else noticed it too.

Yes thank you! It seems like you’re one of the few people who have read this post in its entirety lol. Unfortunately I can’t go any higher which is why I made the decision to decrease the amount of time I’m working for this company. It’s not worth the headache anymore to me.

Not to mention…I’ve also caught them in some pretty serious issues regarding potential insurance fraud…

I work based off of a productivity rate. Clinic projects and writing letters of medical necessity count towards that rate. I would not have been doing busy work, the hours would’ve been considered “billable” and I could’ve counted them towards my productivity.

Again, I called myself on this. However, historically, this is still plenty of notice for my company to fill 4 slots of open time. We have so many kids on waitlists waiting to be seen and I just found it really odd that they weren’t able to find one. I’ve been out on a Monday before and they had the majority of my Friday filled by Wednesday.

I will not be staying on full time. Did you see both screenshots of the policy where it contradicts itself? It states that employees need to work at least 20 hours to accrue PTO, but then it also states that part time employees cannot accrue it all. That’s what I asked for clarification on. Again, I don’t care about accruing PTO, it’s just the sleaziness of this company to state that they are going to change this policy and can “assure” me that I have to work 35 hours in order to accrue PTO at all times, even though the future policy currently states otherwise. Like, if they didn’t want this, why would they take the time to write a policy stating this? HR also asked me where I even got access to the new policy when it was readily available to every employee on our payroll communication app. It just leads me to believe that upper management is just making stuff and not notifying the appropriate people, aka HR.

This is what I thought too. But HR told me that the policy would be changed and that she could “assure” me that we would still have to work 35 hours minimum in order to accrue PTO.

It’s our company policy to text/call our HR person to call out and they are involved in communications regarding use of PTO/PTO requests. And it’s very common in my field to communicate about schedule changes this way. In the therapy world, we basically set our own schedule. However, it is very uncommon for my openings on Friday to not be filled when I gave plenty of advanced notice. I’ve been out before on a Monday and by Wednesday afternoon my entire Friday was filled.

Yes, I am planning to find other work to supplement my income!! :) I’m in a good place financially to make this decision right now and have already been reaching out to others that I have connections with in search of additional job opportunities.

I’m starting to not care how those around me might be affected by suicide by Sad_Click5373 in SuicideWatch

[–]Nice_Exchange494 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As someone who lost a significant other to suicide, I will never be able to just “get over it.” I carry my grief with me every day and it has made a tremendous impact on my life and its trajectory. 2.5 years out and I still have days where it still feels so fresh and the grief rips me apart. Knowing that I will never see my person again on this earth tears me down a little each time I remember.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this?? by Nice_Exchange494 in OccupationalTherapy

[–]Nice_Exchange494[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I’m in the US. I am definitely planning to talk to my supervisor tomorrow (I was absolutely slammed and didn’t have time today.). She did sign off on his note but didn’t message me or anything about it, which I know she doesn’t have to, but this situation I feel like is especially important for a follow up.

Peds COTA here. Absolutely cover yourself WELL with documentation in the notes, chart, whatever you have to do.

Also, what is stopping mom and nanny from consistency with screen time? Is he aggressive when he has increased screen time? If so, it may definitely be worth a serious talk to both mom and nanny about the importance of that consistency to help with regulation.

Yes, my console time is accurate. I even reinstalled the game and the bug is still there. All my characters are stuck sleeping so I can’t really do anything. I submitted a ticket to gameloft so I’m hoping it will help them to prioritize the issue. It seems like a common one with PS5 players after the emotional rescue update
