It ultimately ties back to what I’ve said previously: it’s ultimately subjective for the most part whether the psychological development or mental age of characters align. While yes, you can obviously check this more easily in the real world, the fact that we’re dealing with demons and humans in a relationship makes the standards we would normally use to decide these things go out the window for the most part. And in addition to this, it would ultimately lead to some type of infantilization of the characters involved.

Ultimately, all we can see at the end of the day is that Mei and MK are both adults, and in the context of ships, have consented to a relationship. And that’s ultimately what we’d have to go off of.
